Hi, Is it possible to remove the discs from the carrier to then place full floating discs and bobbins on? If so how do you remove the bobbins on the non floating discs please? Are they drilled out?
It is possible. There used to be kits to do it, although not seen any for a while. The stock bobbins are pretty tough...I think a grinder was weapon of choice rather than a drill. Also, make sure that any kit you get is for the stock 4.5mm disc and not a 5mm race spec' item. There's floating and then there's "too bloody loose"
Thanks it's the 5mm race spec disc brand new see here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261421636297?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I already have cast iron full floaters and they are on a 12 bobbin carrier, these discs are on 10 bobbin carrier which fits on the original discs, just wondering if it's ok just to grind them off then re fit, or do I need a special 10 bobbin carrier?
Indeed, I fitted an STM set. I tried drilling some but it was hard work and not going anywhere quickly but a 4.5in grinder with a 'soft' pad did it in no time.
Dukedesmo, cheers for that, just spoke to Brembo importers and drilling/grinding out riveted rotors leaves the carrier good to fit full floaters
Cheers all, I have all the bobbins, just need the carriers, dukedesmo in post above is the way i am going. shopping around for anyone with knackered/worn discs laying around and I'll use the carriers. My Standard riveted discs still have a lot of life in them should I need them atm.
