We are stuffing a 998 engine into a 748 trackbike and it came with a 996R cable harness & ECU, which should be the same as a 998. But - There are some differences in the wiring colours on the big plug carrying the signals to the ECU and we have problems getting it to work. There is no ignition (but the fuel pump is running now) and as this is controlled by the ECU, we expect that the ECU isn't happy and some signals must be missing. So - anyone knows if the 996R and 998 wiring is the same? I have the 998 diagram but I can't seem to find a 996R diagram to compare with.
996R and 998s are comparable. If you go to the Ducati web site drop down the menu under Dealer and Services , then under Services click on Maintenance and you will see bottom right hand side Owner's Manual. The wiring diagram is at the back of the download. Andy or just follow Chris' link - doh !
Thanks, I checked it against the 998 Matrix wiring diagram and they seem to be identical. We have removed the key and it should be simple matter of shorting a few wires using the killswitch but we have no power on the spark plugs. Anyone knows what these inputs on the ECU are about: - Body 27 (ACIN) - Body 17 (KEYSENSE) br JimR
