  1. Hi

Can anyone advise please on how difficult it is to remove engine valves on a 4 valve head, bike is 2010 796, the cyl heads are on the bench so easy access, should I have a go or leave it for a dealer.. The only reason I wish to remove them is for cleaning up the ports, it would make life a lot easier with them
    Removed.. Thanks..

  2. 796 are 2 valve heads.... Either way, stripping is fairly straight forward. Take apart carefully and bag everything up. Have a go at rebuild, if you struggle or need to finish the shimming off then drop into a workshop. Either way you've had a go and saved a few quid

  3. make sure everything goes back to where it came from.

  4. Thanks guys ... Sorry Nelly, when I say 4 valve I meant the total number of valves, see what you mean though, sorry I'm getting old...

Yes I fancy a go.. Was going to take just one out and if it went well was going to bag each valves contents separately and label... Also take phone pics along the way...

I'm told valves really should not need adjusting yet as it's only done 5000 miles but the amount of carbon build up is amazing, crap fuel prob, and to get at all of it the valves will need to drop ...
