749 Suede

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by david mckendry, Apr 17, 2014.

  1. Hi folks do you know who sells the suede seats for 749/999 mono seat bikes I have been on ebay but not having much luck tracking one down.

  2. Hi,
Just had the same dilema, assuming that you don't want to keep sliding too much?
I bought the twin pack from Saxon Seats with the italian flag design for just over £90.
Leather is textured not smooth, good product, I would say the luimoto seats look a bit better quality and they do the Suede's as an option but for me the price was too big a jump for as loved but regularly used bike!

    Any here got there luimotos???

  3. cheers Andy i had thought about those saxon seats & yes my rear end does slide about too much lol still would like the luimoto.

  4. I bought a Luimoto cover for my 999. Good quality and looks great. Currently have a ProTwins race seat fitted which is hard foam and about an inch higher.

  5. Pro Twins sell a suede/foam type seat for the 999, it is super soft. It needs to be, as you ride home with your pants pulled down.

  8. Yay 90s brit pop icons

Stay together was canny - just love the intro

  9. I used a very good car trimmer in Ilkeston near J26 M1, who covered my seat pad with black Alcantara for £70, great job.

  10. Looks good, be nice if it comes with Ducati Corse stitched in. I did my 748 seat pat with £10 of red suede and my office stapler. Worked really well and looked great.

749 seat pad seemed a little harder, due to profile. Seemed to be more concave than the 748, and more pointed at the front. Hence why I paid to have it covered.

Let us know how you get on, and post some pics.

  11. Steve, I'm thinking of getting one of these for my 749, I'd also be interested in what the stitching finish quality is like and how much material you actually get. So keep us updated please.

  12. Arrived on Thursday, only ordered on the bank holiday weekend and the stitching is top quality, overall size of the material is 500mm square. After speaking with a local upholsterer he quoted £15 to fit it, so I am not even attempting a diy job, won't be ready until Monday.

  13. Looks good, be nice to see the finished seat.

  14. Might be a stupid question but would this be stretched over the seat cover as is or would it actually replace the existing covering?,alcantera/suede is quite thick and the seat might appear a bit bulky if just stretched over ...looks quite nice with the Ducati corse stitching tho, looking forward to seeing a pic of the finished article too.

  15. My original covering is going to be replaced.

  16. Birdie, where is the guy you plan to use to do the work?

Would he be up for doing any more?

Already have black alcantara seat covering, but, do like the stitching on yours. May look at similar.

  17. I live in Bakewell and the upholsterer is a couple of miles away in a vilage called Longstone.
