Quick question, front sprocket removal.. Whilst I fully understand it will be a sod to loosen can it be swapped over without slackening off the rear wheel? Once its loosened I can get it up on the abba stand so the chain would be slack... Is it as simple as that?
Good luck. No you need to slacken it. Lazy git. Tis a 2m job. Such idleness deserves recognition but I can't be ars...
All sorted... Neighbour sat on the bike.. I had a hernia... Bolt came off.. No C spanner so gentle persuasion of the eccentric hub via a hammer / flat blade & piece of cloth to protect the end... all off & on in half an hour... Pikey technique but proper job!!!... Now... If the rain would fuck off please I'd like to try out my smaller sprocket!!!!!
It did for me, the main difference was the whole drivability at the low speeds 30mph in 3rd gear was possible well about 38 ;-) And you get more drive all the way through no doubt about that.
Thats what im after bud.. Im no wheelie god & dont want to be but a bit more drive out of the corners would be nice..
Dont forget to buy a c spanner for future use. See plenty old 916 ones on ebay. I use the one of my 916. That came with it the bike. In that tool kit you get. Not like the shite you get with the 1198. Hence my 916 toolkit gets swapped between bikes.
The 916 one is a cheap one lol. Works fine. All the 916 tools should be fine for 1198 or 848 too I'd guess.
+1 that the 848 tool kit is utter shite.... Question on the C-spanner.. Can I assume it does both rear shock & back wheel?... I tried making my own last night & ended up with three screwdrivers that had lazy lob-ons... & as fit for the task as a lazy lob on too.... Edit... Looking at that ebay ad I'd say no then... two separate tools..
