Poor Brake Performance

  1. Hi,

Had my bike out for the second time since Winter and I've noticed that the front brake isn't working well. The lever is not spongy but a firm pull on the lever is required to get the brakes to really bite. I've been advised to clean the discs and pads with brake cleaner, can anybody tell me how to remove the pads from the M4 Monobloc caliper or any other suggestions?
    Thanks

  2. A squirt of wd40 will clean them up nicely ;)

  3. cheers mate I'll try that :upyeah:

  4. Always wipe away from your bollocks.

  5. mine were the same depending where the lever position was set. closer to the bar means more feel and effort, further away more bite less effort

  6. Hence I posted the comment with the ;)

  7. Mr R does make a good/valid point!

I was getting my bike MOT'ed last week and was chatting to the garage owner and MOT tester.
I told me they have "a lot" of people that try exactly the above! :Jawdrop:

  9. The brakes on my 996 were a bit spongy when I got that. I checked and the fluid looked more like treacle, so I changed all the brake fluid for new stuff and at the same time swapped out the brake pads for some new ones. Made a world of difference.
