No, was too late. You have to buy that within the first 18months I believe, might be the first 21? Either way I was too late and to be honest the cover is unlikely to be much different, this one allows me to get a quote for any work then just get it signed off.
I've got the same warranty and there are limits: 1) £2000 maximum. 2) Total cover in one year £4000. At least that's what my cover is and for £310, with a free MOT too and no excess to pay either, however, with other limitations like maximum allowance per hour for the labour charges @ £60. I think there is an additional charge to transfer it to another owner, £50 I believe :Nailbiting: Not quite limitless, but reasonable cover especially when as we all know these Ducati's are fickle and costly to maintain, so peace of mind to some extent.
24 months - according to Snell's. But if anyone is thinking of leaving it that late they should check that.
:Sour: To everyone who has bought a Warranty Direct policy, there is a major potential problem with the extent of cover. Having looked at my policy having just got back from an extended Euro ride and broken down in Belgium, there is an exclusion noted somewhere well towards the back of the booklet excluding anywhere other than the UK!! I checked the quotation that I negotiated together with the associated PDF document that was sent to me prior to verification and it says absolutely nothing about this exclusion, which if it had formed a part of the conversation prior to agreement, I would have flatly refused to buy the policy. Potentially my error I do realise now, but when discussing the process for recovery of costs and the repair authorisation whilst in Belgium, the WD representative I was talking with didn't realise herself that European warranty wasn't covered, until a colleague passed her a note during my conversation. She was equally incredulous when we spoke about the madness associated with a warranty for a 'touring' bike, that you could only tour on in the UK. Utter nonsense, we both concluded. So I suggest you get on the phone to Warranty Direct and collectively, those of us who have bought cover on the basis of riding your bike anywhere outside of the UK, try to get this rubbish resolved. I certainly intend to take this issue up with WD and to endeavour to get it rectified and if nothing else to try to recover my payment for mis-selling the product in the first place. Buyer beware....so if nothing else anyone considering taking out a Warranty Direct policy, can now be warned in advance. If you want to be protected whilst riding in Europe, this is NOT the policy for you, unless that is, it has been recently altered to deal with this major oversight.
It will have to say UK only somewhere. You sure that wasnt recovery costs excluded outside Uk? Or costs likited to what it would be in the Uk? Eg if you ended up being recovered home, thats most of your 2k limit gone
epressed: Dave is right I got recovered within Belgium and they took the bike the next working day onto a Ducati dealership near Malmedy. The warranty refused to cover anything at all as the cover ONLY extends to the UK, hence why I have raised the issue here on the forum. The problem was due to total failure of the BBS unit, which effectively rendered the bike un-useable. I used my recovery policy for the break-down via Aria Europe, who I have to say were very good indeed. They made all of the arrangements for the bike to be repaired and the additional onward recovery, as when I broke down on the E42 just outside Namur, it was a Belgium holiday, so garages were shut. That's why the bike was recovered to an open garage the following day. I did have to pay an additional charge as the B/D cover was up to a limit of £250 for the recovery costs and the 2nd move added about £50 to the bill. Warranty Direct were not interested in helping out at all, not being in the UK. Have a good look at your policy people, you don't need this additional anxiety whilst out and about touring in Europe.:Arghh:
Contest it. FCS complaint and contact ombudsman. T&Cs have to be clear and fair. Key exclusions, like NOT covered outside Uk! Must be listed and mentioned during sale, hence any insurance policy takes half hr to buy these days
Bradders, Don't worry I absolutely intend to and will let all interested know how I get on. Dave it was one of the principal reasons I thought about buying the policy in the first place, so sort of feel let down by myself for not taking a great deal more care, but mainly by WD. They make a huge fuss about their products in the market place, on TV, in trade press everywhere, etc and they shouldn't be allowed to leave this key piece of detail unclear. :Banghead: Great to see you in Belgium by the way, a terrific event all round.

I was told on the phone when i took my cover out with WD that it DID cover Europe!! Now no longer covered as can't afford 4th year cover. Threw all my paperwork out so can't double check that now.
