Hyper 1100 2008 Slip On Can And Ecu Help

  1. Hi guys.

Sorry if this is a repeat (I'm sure it will be in at least some fashion).
I have not long since purchased my first ducati - a 2008 1100 hyper. I'm keen to get a can on it and due to styling am leaning towards a single can, although not sure which make yet.

My question is, I have never really played about with ECUs and remapping and stuff and am wondering if I will need to change the ECU and or get it tuned and what benefits this will afford. Also what are the consequences of not doing this.

I am not a power monster trying to squeeze every last bhp out, I just want a sweet sound and smooth fuelling.

    Cheers everyone.

  2. I had a hyper and fitted a zard exhaust, and I was told I didn't need to change the ecu with these cans, but the bike sounded grate but was such a hand full at low revs and the power was like a bang of a gun. I now have an 1198 with termi's and ecu up Map and what a difference, this bike is so much smooth and the delivery is so much better it's easier to ride than the hyper. So I recommend you go for an ecu whatever cans you go for. Truly transforms the bike and is nicer to ride. Hope that helps

  3. If it's just the cans it should be able to sort itself out with the closed-loop fuel system making use of the lambda (co2) sensor.
IF you replace the mid-pipe that has the Exhaust Valve, you'll get errors as the ECU won't see the valve (during the start-up cycle) and thinks it's faulty.
IF you replace the CAT part with a straight-through pipe, this does away with the lambda sensor and you'll then get errors with the standard ECU as it won't see the sensor.
