Hi all, my monster is all back together after stripped and powder coated....Had a virginised ecu of Chris from the forum due to mine being fried, and bike fired before strip down. No I can't start it of the button. Battery was showing over 13v, all electrics working, pump priming. Bike will crank over when solenoid is bridged, clean main earth, no noise at all from soleniod when starter button pressed. I've put a multimeter on the two tiny spades in connector from starter button to solenoid and it's showing 9.5v...but no variation when pressed??? I'm also confused by I've a picture of the loom behind the headlamp prior to strip down, and I can see a little white wire connected to the bracket behind the headlamp by an eyelet, but I can't seem to find it now...All lights work, horn ect...but I have removed indicators.....very frustrating!
The more I think about it, surely there should be no current in the solenoid/starter wire till I press the button, and should be at least 12v not 9???
If the switch is faulty you will probably need to bridge it out to test it, I'm not familiar with your bike but that would be where I would start with your symptom's.
Hi, yep spent most of the weekend scratching my head. Started doing continuity test on all switches, kill, run, and stand. All fine. All that was left to do was the clutch switch. There lay the problem, there wasn't a switch on the lever, the previous owner must have removed it and earthed the switch to bypass it, made an earth and fired up straight away.....All I have left to do is line the tank with POR 15, and fit the chain.
