can anyone help my ducati st2 944 started to cut out intermittantley i checked battery terminals and solenoid conections, checked and cleaned out ignition barrel, now when i turn on ignition nothing happens but there is power to the ignition barrel is it an ecu fault as im baffeled.
Possibly the main relay located up near the fuse box under the top fairing. Also be sure to check the condition of the wiring to the 25 pin multi-connector immediately below it. They are known to suffer from water ingress resulting in serious corrosion.
I'm not sure what you mean by " showing about one volt of two wires.." The yellow wire to the ignition switch connector (red to the switch) is straight from the battery via fuse 1 in the fuse box and should show battery voltage. When the switch is closed it connects this wire to the yellow/black of the connector (green/black from the switch). The yellow/black goes to the energising coil of the ignition relay and should turn it on, which in turn switches on power to the rest of the bike. Use a test lamp. Does it light when you connect it across the yellow wire and earth? If not check fuse 1 Does it light when you connect it to the yellow/black wire and the ignition switch is ON? If not the switch is faulty. Does the relay click when you turn the ignition on? If not it's faulty or has no earth connection (black wire) If yes, is there power on the brown wire leading to the fuse box? If no, the relay is faulty. If yes has the battery got a good earth connection? Let me know how you get on with these checks and we can take it from there.
