Strange Tyre Question

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by psalliss, May 17, 2014.

  1. Hi I've got a 2013 multi that I've owned from new on tyres suppliedmfrom new. Whenever I try to get pressure in the rear tyre or check tyre pressure using a digital gauge the gauge ever gives a reading of nothing or a reading that I'd definatly incorrect and when I try to inflate using garage compressor it doesn't appear to inflate. Has anyone got any ideas

  2. Sounds like your not getting the tyre valve to compress and open. The the air is either escaping between the fitting and tyre stem giving you a zero or getting trapped in the stem and when you apply air from the compressor you are reading the compressor output as the tyre valve is closed.

Its not that uncommon if the valve is difficult to access

  3. Ok that makes sense. How do I sort it and is it anything to worry about?

  4. have the valve changed for a 90deg??

  5. Ok how much and where can do that? Can any tyre please do it. A 90 would make life much easier as well. Don't know why aren't 90 as standard on a bike. Front is and it's much better

  6. I have a 90deg adapter which cost me a fiver I think, which help put air in but don't know of that would help with pressure measurement

  7. Right so just the adapter then. Definatly worth a go. I'll have a look

  8. Had a quick look ebay and there are 8.3 or 11mm could you advise which I need.

  9. sorry no idea. Motorbike so bigger one I'd imagine??

  10. Thanks think order a set. Do you know which size I need?

  11. Funny as fuck. Where's the potty.

  12. Why is it funny. I've googled it and looked on ebay and there are contradictions between listings and information so I'm not sure hence asking some of the more knowledgable people on here so that I can order some.

  13. Cancel that found it I think its 8.3mm

  14. Got no clue how they size them. When I checked a tyre valve that I have lying around here I measured 7.5 mm diameter on the screw thread that an extender would connect onto

I'm guessing you are referring to the turret valves (just discovered they are called that)

    EDIT
I posted the wrong size according to that link its an 8.3 you need

Remember the tyre needs to be removed to fit

  17. Just googled too and a couple of forums also say 8mm size for Ducs so I'd say your fairly safe

Its not anything to worry about just a PIA and stop you checking pressures as often as you should

  18. Thanks john. With valve not giving accurate reading I'm never confident that it's got right presure in it

  19. or try a different gauge
