Riding home from work in the pouring rain and got to the Weymouth turn off at Dorchester.....nah.... slow queing traffic and no opportunities to over take so I go on to Winterborne Abbas and do the Bridport - Weymouth coast road....loads of fun I thought. Got to Portisham on the coast road....loads of people blocking the road.......noooooooooo the Olympic Torch relay had just arrived Doh .....Ah ha...I know a road that can get round this if I'm quick so I blat off back up the way I came eventually get back on the coast road in front of the procession. Pull out on the road behind the Coca Cola steel band lorry and prepare for warp facter 3 ......check mirrors......oh shit......plod bike with lights flashing...... better behave myself......never done that road within the speed limit before. Cop bikes on every junction.....no escape get to just outside Weymouth and blow me if there wasn't 20 cops on bikes....hey I'm out numbered ...I give up.......whats this they wave me through....God loves me ....all these people lining the road waving flags in the pouring rain.....takes allsorts I suppose (how did they know I was going home that way). Moral of the story is "always check your mirrors"
Funny enough, I travelled the exact same roads the next day. In a van, though. God it was boring:frown:
I'm not used to having so many plod on bikes on my playground......normaly its just the camera vans and the helicopter to worry about whilst out to play:wink: I recon going anywhere in a van would have that effect
How wrong you are....try the 'Woodhead Pass' near Tintwhistle in a long wheelbase high top transit with 2.5 tonne of electric scissor lift in the back at 1:30am in snow and fog. Now that is fun
Mmmmmmmmmm......fun trying to keep it on the road......not quite what the fun I was thinking of More challenging...keeps you focused......lower pelvic floor exercises ? just had a look on street view......hey they even have catch fencing...... No sheep on the roads ....thats easy
Actually my van's plenty of fun. An Astra 1.9 diesel Sportive that's been chipped. Makes me chuckle quite a lot
Haha I was exercising my buttocks at times, I was trying to make time up en route to Holyhead to catch a big old boat to Dublin. The sheep wandering free at the time, but in my nicotine and caffiene induced haze, it might have just been big clumps of snow.....either way it was fun. Vans are cool
Bet it slows down when you have your reclaim unit, couple bottles of refrigerant and your porta pack in the back. lmao!
astra, diesel and sportive sounds like a contradiction in terms doesnt it..? bit like fiat panda gt turbo. my old astra 1.7 isuzu engined estate used to do 0-60 by appointment only. i sold her with 256k on the clock for the princely sum of £148..shouldve been £150 but the buyer had stopped off at the shops on the way over...i didnt quibble.
