Hello everyone...I'm hoping someone here could help me with my problem. I have a 2007 ducati s4rs..it was bought used with a full termignoni exhaust, ecu and airfilter. I had to do a emissions test so I put on an oem collector box and still used the termignoni mufflers, ecu (that came with the termignoni exhaust) and put an oem o2 sensor back on the collector box. I went for the emissions test today and it failed. The technician said it failed by 3 times the limit. So I guess my questions are: 1. Why? 2. What would happen if I disconnect the o2 sensor? 3. Do I need to remap or program the ecu because of the collector box?
The DP ECU has the lambdas disabled and fuel trim is achieved through adjustment via diagnostic software and gas analyser. The stock ECU is set up to work with the Lamdas controlling fuel trim. Do the stock cans have CATs? The combination of lambdas and cats are there to get the bike through EU emission regs. You will need to put the stock gear on if you want to have a chance of passing the test.
thanks for the replies...I'm not in the UK, and in South Korea. Just my luck that the laws changed this year for mandatory testing for motorcycles. It does have a cat ( I'm guessing the collector box is the cat..the ugly thing under the engine). Since the bike had full termignoni system including the ecu, and I just put the cat back on and the o2 sensor, does that mean I need to remap the ecu or do I have to use the oem ecu( which I don't have)? I thought if I put the cat on and use the termignoni mufflers, that would allow me to pass emissions...but the limit is 1200 and my bike registered at 4000.... I'm guessing the 1200 is ppm , but not really sure.....
if its ppm your bike has a serious misfire or burning oil. or a really bad air leak on induction side.
Sorry mate, my bad, didn't realise you weren't in the UK. I wasn't trying to be difficult, I just wondered if maybe the MOT tester (if UK based) was having a bad day as I believe they can only 'Advise' on emissions.
Restore the bike to stock, including the ECU. That will give you a fighting chance of passing the test.
a.k.a. the 'udder'. Yes, that's it. I would get an ecu from ebay, have someone like ChrisW (here) flash it with the standard map and re-fit the O2 sensors. That should work. TBH, if you're running the cat, the more open exhausts won't make too much difference as the cat will be providing pressure.
