Hi folks was wondering if it is possible to fit a power commander onto my 749s & would fitting this help out the cutting out at idle which ocurrs from time to time
Power commander mapping doesn't usually cut in below 3000 rpm. If you have a stalling issue you need to look at a TPS reset, throttle body balance and the fuel trim/CO setting.
Hi Chris i did have the throttle bodies balanced last year & asked the guys to do the fuel trim co was raised slightly not by much tick over up slightly as well I recently bought ducati soft ware for my pc so I think I should be able to reset the tps is there a specific way to do this. Iam in N.Ireland & the dealership over here are not interested in working on older ducatis it seems like they pam you off with tech talk I happened to catch them out as I am a mechanic myself I do most of the work on the bike myself but some electronic stuff you need the bike plugged in hence I bought the ducati software for the pc.Still trying to get to grips with it.Its the one thing which annoys me about about dearlerships sometimes they cetainly will sell you the bike but dont want to know you after that or they just stick the arm into you as regards money if you do leave the bike in.
Using JPDiag the TPS reset is just a button click. I set my CO using a gas analyser and the trimmer tool in JPDiag. If you don't have a gas analyser then trial and error can be used to get the best/highest idle. Just select the value + or - and press test. Within 5 secs press confirm and the value is stored.
I'm Northern Ireland too and if you're looking for some local help, try Brian in Mototech Ballinderry. Decent guy who knows his stuff and will keep you right. Works on a lot of Italian bikes, including Ducatis, both old and new. D
Cheers guys thankyou for your help,it is good to talk as they say there is always someone out there to help. Glenavydrongo welcome to the fourm & thanks for the info I know of Brian up at Mototech Infact I will go & speak to him as I said I do like to try & do as much work to all my bikes myself but it wouldnt hurt to have a yarn with someone who works with ducatis.
