Hi I'm going to bite the bullet and order myself a 899 this weekend after two incredible test rides. Shall I add the termis to the order? The only reason for me wanting them would be the sound alone as I have been told they are a lot louder and noticeably deeper in tone. Are they worth the £1500 extra and are they really a lot louder in person than the standard pipes. Going to be a long few months I think! Cheers lee
DON'T Pay £1500 for them mate, way to much. Just enjoy the bike and then when ya feel like ya want a bit more, then go and buy a set ready for summer 2015, by which time there should be cheaper new or there will be few used sets for sale.
Thanks guys, I might just wait and see if I want them in the future if there is no real difference in the sound. I would only want them if it was a significant difference in sound, love the sound of the bike so would have it as loud as possible ! At £1500 quoted to have them installed at first service is a lot of money if there is no major difference.
I had the same dilemma. Didn't want to spend £1500 on a set of cans as I thought it was just a little too much. I hunted around and found a full Termi system for not much more than just the slip ons, so I went for the full system. Iv heard the sound advantage isn't that great, but the fueling etc is sorted right out. It's much smoother. The stock cans & set up is quite jerky/hunts quite a bit
Termis are definately much louder than standard and have a deeper tone,I noticed the difference straight away when they were fitted to mine. Not sure if much performance but as your not concerned about it its really if you can justify the expense for them.
I've seen a couple of sets turn up on eBay around £1000. Not sure on fitting costs though but would think a couple of hours at least. DUCATI TERMIGNONI DUCATI 899 PANIGALE RACING EXHAUST TITANIUM 96480221A NEW | eBay
I'll be selling ours soon, done about a 1000 miles. Having full Akra fitted in about 4 weeks if you can wait
I found that my 1199s with Termis ran noticeably better and stronger than the stock 1199s that I testrode. Presumably as a result of the mapping. The sound isn't louder; it's just deeper and imo nicer than stock pipes, but I dont think I would have spent money if it was just for the sound as the stock pipes sound great anyhow.
