135mph out of a 2001 s I think is good. Seen blogs of speeds reaching 156+mph! Either people are talking shit, or I am not using 4th & 5th to there full potential. If the road was longer maybe 145mph I feel, but 150+? Standard? I ain't no Donald Campbell but.......
Stop fucking about and wring it If it's not happening, turn it round and go the other way - headwinds are killers
What has Norfolk got to do with the national inflation rate of the leisure and tourist industry discrediting the imbalanced decline of the use of our local library services?
Sounds about right - my 1998 model 748 on standard gearing would run up to 130 easily but to get any more I needed a long straight and to get well tucked in - could never get more than 145 out of it.
Im sorry did i offend you? It struck me as amusing the day that you posted ( achieved on a private road no doubt) a near 135mph claim, that the following news item was on the BBC - i guessed you did not see it, hence the humour went past, at more legal speeds! BBC News - Norfolk A11 motorcyclist caught speeding at 134mph
Going on them stat's, My 1993 kr1s on standard gearing i got 125 but would go a tad more if you could find a bloody long straight and without a blow up, not bad for 250cc.
Gearing is a cheap and easy thing to play with. Have a go, one of two things will happen. On my TL1000 it was a revelation losing a tooth off the front sprocket, a huge increase in performance and feel-good factor, but on a Triumph Sprint it didn't work. Sure it accelerated quicker, but it lost out when flat out cos it would already pull the red line in top before I started playing.
There is a little island in the Irish Sea with a couple of nice straights on it... and it's legal. I'm going over there for the Southern 100 next month.. Why not join me.
"I hit 125 on my 97 model 748 and at that speed I genuinely thought it was going to blow up." Bless you - you are possibly used to it going by your 'tag'
The 748 hits peak power at 11,000 rpm The 916 reaches peak power at 9,000 rpm A 900SS reaches peak power at 7,000 rpm a full 4,000 less than a 748. Sounds like you 'bottled it'
I'm not saying It was flat out, just that I didn't have much confidence in the engine at them speeds.
155mph on the speedo on mine in France, although it was on a downhill stretch of autoroute and I was very tucked in! Standard gearing as well. The speedo is probably way out by the time it gets round there - probably 10% - so 140mph is more likely the terminal speed.
I got a ton out of my old MZ, although to be fair it seized solid the second I backed off. Things always go faster in France, I've noticed...
