Cold Start Problem On 2010 Monster 1100s

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by d8mok, Jul 4, 2014.

  1. Had my monster 1100s for nearly 3 years and all of a sudden it's become hard to start when stood for more than a few days. It turns over fine but struggles to fire. If I give it a minute and try again it eventually starts and I don't get anymore problems. It's done 6500 miles and has a cjs map with cans but these have been fitted for ages.

  2. Heard you the first time :)

  3. Not got a clue what plugs are in it. Nelly at Cornerspeed services it. I'll ask him

  4. Hi,

If you find out what it is please post it up as I have the same problem, but I've only had mine a month. Same thing, lots of power from the battery, just won't fire up. I was also advised to check the plugs but haven't got around to it yet.

  5. Recently, I worked on an Monster S4R that showed this problem. It turned out to be caused by oxidation on the teminals of the in the TPS connector.

  6. Plugs arent iridium so cant be that.

Was wondering if the fact im nearing my valve check at 7500 could be the issue?

  7. Unless the clearances are well out I'd have thought it unlikely

  8. Is the tps connector accessable?

  9. On that model, I've no idea. It's on the LH side of the throttled bodies but there may be some plumbing or something in the way.

  10. There is also the Idle Control Valve to consider.

  11. Update- put the bike on optimate for a few days and its fine now.
