Just bought my first Ducati ( 996s troy bayliss rep ) for not much money but it does cut out at low revs a fair bit. Its got the std 50mm system but it looks like the chip has been changed, is there any way i can find out what chip is supposed to be in the bike? Also the rear end has been raised quite high, ( i keep sliding forwards) how would i lower it? Many thanks for any replies
Hi Laura Welcome to the Forum first off And second sorry cannot help with your Questions maybe look in the technical section welcome aboard
Welcome Laura, nice bike. Does the 996 have an idle screw adjuster to the right hand side of the tank? Adjusting this might sort out the stalling issues but wont help with the rough running. Sorry cant help with the ecu(and may not have helped with the other issue)
When was it last serviced and by who? You can lower it by the adjuster/ride height rod next to the rear shock. Just undo the left and right handed nuts at the top and bottom. Then turn the rod either way to raise/lower the rear. Don't forget to do the nuts up after.
Hi and welcome Laura. DON'T touch it! Take it to an authorised Ducati service agent and let them put it right for you, it may not be the cheapest option but will save you money and grief in the long run. These bikes are not for diy fiddling unless you know what you are doing 100%.
Every single person on this planet has a story. Don't judge people before you truly know them. The truth may surprise you... :Finger:
Is it really a bog standard zorst or does it have slip on open pipes (if they're carbon they're not standard) I'd speak to JHP regarding the chip as they'll know what's standard & can supply either that or the correct one either way.
Thanks all, it does seem to be the std exhaust, not sure about changing the chip myself as i presume it will need setting up afterwards. Ive left messages with P&H and protwins, but they havent got back to me. Maybe they dont need the money? Anyone else know a specialist in the area?
Re the sliding forward, if you drop the ride height it won't turn as quickly ! You could ride a little faster and see if they help's ?-)
Welcome in! I have a neoprene seat on my 848 evo which has helped massively as the standard seat is horrific! Have a look at options for yours and u may be able to get something that will grip better.
Thanks final_edition i'll bring it down a bit at a time, the previous owner jacked it right up & still couldnt get on with it
