I have been viewing these forums as a non member a fair amount over the last few months, I was hoping to initially register to arrange a ride out, but frustratingly it’s due to some problems with the bike…. It’s a brand new 899 which I have just finished running in, and the first service is due next week. I appreciate my dealer will probably have most of the answers but I wanted to see if anyone here has had a similar experience. I was out yesterday when the bike seemed to randomly cut out at around 25mph, as I was slowing down in 3rd approaching some traffic lights - this has happened once before but it was my second ride so I put it down to user error. Anyway, after starting her back up I noticed the oil light was on and it was flashing ‘OIL’ on the dash, I pulled over imminently to check, and to my relief there was still plenty visible in the sight glass. It may have been paranoia, but from then on it was just not running right , 3rd felt rough and underpowered, something felt wrong. I have sent an email to my dealer alerting them to the potential issue ahead of the service next week, but if anyone can shed some light on the problems I’m experiencing it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers James
Any probs with a new bike aint good.Defo down to the dealer to sort. This is when the aftersales bit is tested.Good luck.
Thanks, turns out I was having a senior moment... The whole flashing 'OIL' sign is just part of the first service indicator. Anyway, what's more frustrating is the engine cutting out as it's going to be highly unlikely the dealer will be unable to reproduce the issue - hopefully it is something Ducati know about.
Hmmm - i also had this - not the Oil indicator but downshifting from 5th to 2nd it just cut out on me - at about the 300 mile range just put it it down to a technical glitch felt lumpy afterwards but was prob just my paranoia
