Multistrada Time....

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by ChrisBirb, Jun 19, 2014.

  1. Hello all!
this is my first Multistrada and also my first Ducati. Traded a ZX10R in against it. 1200 S Touring in black. Recent knee surgery meant the Ninja was no longer practical so the Multi was an obvious choice.
Live in sunny West Cumbria so if there are any other owners in the vicinity who like to go for blasts or similar let me know.

    Cheers,

    ChrisBirb.

  2. Where abouts in west Cumbria, anywhere near Barrow / walney? I've been riding around on my own for months, I've seen other Multi riders all over but none nod back when I nod in passing and trying to get a conversation out of any I bump into at devils is like drawing teeth.
Oh and as you may see by my avatar, I have had a knee opp or 2 and also had to sell my R1 because of it.

  3. Hi jc. Live in Maryport marra. Still happy to travel to meet other like-minded Ducati owners though. What's the crack with all the other stuck-up multi owners? New to Ducati but I would have thought they would at least have a wee natter with other owners. Weird.
    Ride safe pal.

  4. Maryport ay? Good but dangerous roads up that way, I've been up there a few times on my R1, may have to give the multi a blat up that way one of the days. I quite often pop up to Haverigg to visit my son ( he lives there, he's not staying there under her majesty's gaze).
Not sure what it is about the Ducati owners in Cumbria / Lancashire, I've never been able to have a conversation with any of them for more that a few words. to be honest I've had a lot more luck with GS riders.

I'm guessing if you've been riding a ZX10R you like to wined it on a bit on the twisty's, If you haven't already give it a go on the multi, honestly there like riding a supermoto on steroids so agile and responsive, you'll love it.

  5. Don't find the roads up here that bad pal. I always use the 596 if I'm going north. Less traffic/headcases on that road. And plod. The coast road from Maryport to Carlsile via Silloth is a nice ride out when the sun's shining.
If that's your knee in your avatar I feel for you. Had microfracture surgery in February. Just getting back to work at the end of this month. Talk about a long slow recovery. And it won't have turned into new cartilage for another year or so. Thought I was going in for another snip and wash out. If I'd known it was gonna be like this I'd have just put up with it.

  6. hi and welcome. could arrange a meet at devil's... and maybe a blast up to the lakes sometime soon. :upyeah:

  7. Morning Dave :)

  8. Well I'm nipping up to devils for my dinner today then maybe a ride over the Yorkshire moors. I'll probably do it again on Sunday to. if any body is heading that way let me know, I could do with a biker to biker chat/moan.

  9. What type of screen is that on your Multi? Looks like it keeps the wind off better than the bog standard screen on mine.

  10. Me? It's the standard GT screen. Is up in that shot but I normally have it down.

  11. Welcome to the forum :upyeah:

  12. Coo - I didn't think anyone lived in Barrow any more (That's where I come from....well, Walney Island actually) but then moved in to Barrow and then down to Bristol (which was about 40 years ago....)

  13. As @ElToro would say, welcome aboard Dave.

  14. Yep they do, I live on Walney and was born at #90 Dominion street in the front bed room.

  15. Hello and welcome :)

  16. Well as a newbie I think I fit the content of this thread. 6'2" Yorkshire plumber living in York with a MTS1200S, sold Triumph St1050 due to multiple knee surgeries and crippling cramp on the tourer. Bike is great on the twisties but crap in town and slow filtering. She's back in the shop for Ducati Leeds to try and fix the lean running and surging issue. May just decat and fatduc the bloody thing and have done.:Banghead:
Brother in law is around Morecambe (rides a Tiger, someone has too I suppose) I would be up for a blast out to the Dark Side of the country.:Wacky:
    JJ.
