Showa Fork Bushes?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Jht, Jul 17, 2014.

  1. Advice needed please:
    A. Is it absolutely necessary to replace top and bottom bushes for Showa 43mm forks when renewing oil seals? If so why?
    B. anyone know of more affordable items - Ducati are asking a kings ransom.

    Thanks,

  2. Not necessary to replace them, but they have a habit of jamming together when stripping the forks apart, so check they are damaged..........and check for 'slop' before you strip the forks......

You can get the bushes from K-Tech.

  3. Great - thanks for that. No damage on one fork's bushes, so pressing on with the job.
    K- tech is good tip.
    What's 'slop' ?

  4. Just my description of the fork slider/stanchion loose in the fork...........put the whole thing on a bench and try push/pull the slider at the bottom across the rest of the fork (IE not inline) to see if the bushes are worn....much easier when the forks are still in the bike with the front wheel out.......in that position, it would be push/pull backwards and forwards.

I reckon you would have to phone K-Tech.........and you may have to give them sizes of the bushes.
