Howdo!! I'm looking at treating the engine to a new set of light weight pulley's when I have to change the belts. Has anyone done this on a 3 valve motor? Having looked, Ducati use a special tool (Surprise surprise) to remove them. I've purchased a set for a 749/999 as they match the 20 tooth configuration (Plus the price was good and as with the 3valve very little options in after market parts), however the ST3 along with the older 900 2valve motor have a lip plate on the central pulleys to prevent the belts from gradually working themselves of the pulleys. So I have many questions before I rip a working bike apart and sit there crying!!!! 1. Would it be possible/worthwhile adapting the new pulleys to have a retaining plate? Thought I could find a machine shop to recess the pulley and press a plate in position?? Dreaming??? Anyone capable of doing such a job?? 2. Would use a dealer/specialist to do the job but as never getting rid of the bike (Owned for 12years and counting) I would like to try and do it myself (Or learn). 3. Wouldn't fit the pulley with out the lip as previously had a set of STM pulleys fitted by a so called specialist and as soon as I sparked the motor up the belts started to work themselves off Good job he was s%$t at his job!!! - He had crushed an O - seal and oil started spilling out of the engine which is why I stopped the bike from running! And that's why he went under!! Any advice most welcome. Cheers Pablo
