Interest check - the following will potentially be sold sepearetly to my 2006 999R: ex Motowheels Project 999R Febur-Bursi carbon fibre body, carbon long-range Febur fuel tank and Casoli GRP replica body for Ducati 749 / 999 Full photos are available in the appropriate album in Photobucket here: Ducati 999R Febur-Bursi Evolution Photos by kneesup84 | Photobucket A unique opportunity to acquire the full Febur-Bursi carbon-fibre bodywork set - including long-range fuel tank - that was originally fitted to the famous and very beautiful Motowheels Project 999R. Please note this body is in the UK, not Sacramento. Significantly lighter than the OEM carbon-fibre body, the Febur-Bursi body was desiged mainly for racing. It removes a lot of the extra detailing from the OEM shape, most noticeably the angular fairing aperture around the handle bars and the aero side-pods. The nose-cone is also faired-in with a distinctive perspex healight cover. The side fairings also come in 2 pieces. The short tail unit is a single piece item by MS Produzione and is included. I persuaded Martin Wong of Motowheels to sell me the body and tank a few years ago, still in it's complicated paintwork (a mixture of black, red-black, dark-red pinstriping and bare carbon-fibre) and since then I have refurbed the various items majorly. I have also completed a full replica, here in the UK, of his original Project bike, only even more developed. Incidentally, the Casoli body I found in the UK later, but I am including it in the package. The x2 bodysets and tank are only being sold as my 999R is being sold shortly and I felt it made sense to explore the opportunity of selling the bodies, tank and Bursi subframe separately. According to Martin, just x4 sets of the Febur body, as sold via Bursi under their name, were supplied in the USA and two of those sets have been destroyed, so this set is one of two remaining from that batch. Extensive searches on the web will show other Febur-bodied 749s and 999s but not one of them is anything like as beautiful as the Motowheels bike, and therefore my Evo'd version of it. I am not aware of any examples in the UK. The full package potentially on offer therefore includes: FEBUR-BURSI Side panels (including BURSI EVOLUTION graphics to the original 999R style) Rear tail (pin-striped) Front faired-in nose-cone (pin-striped) Front fender (pin-striped) - ANNOYINGLY I FORGOT TO INCLUDE THIS IN THE GROUP PIC! Rear lightweight and strengthened sub-frame (Bursi) Bespoke lightweight Bursi side-stand. Carbon fibre long-range Fuel tank. Also including fuel pump, mounting pins, and quick-relase quick-fill racing fuel-filler with x8 Poggipolini Ti bolts. Casoli GRP body taken from Febur moulds and including x2 side fairings, tail section and nose, also with perspex or sold headlight cover. Both supplied. The Febur bodywork is in extremely good condition, although the nose cone has one or two very wee blemishes in virtually invisible places (see photobucket links). The rear tail section has some paint chipping to its underside edges, which are out of sight. The fuel tank shows some very slight indications of 'weave' in localised areas but has been professionally sealed with Caswell GTX - the absolute best tank sealer for carbon tanks. It looks very beautiful and is wonderfully detailed - a big improvement on the Ducati aluminium tanks, including the 749R item. The gas-cap alone cost neartly $800 (!). And because it comes complete with pump and pins it can be fitted in moments. It gives significant extra fuel range. The standard 999R tank was 15.5-litres. Hopelessly small. the 749R tank was 18-litres. Usefully bigger. The Febur tank fitted is 19.7-litres. It gives about 130miles range. The price of all these components new, even before painting was $9600 (not including the Casoli body). So the total new value for this lot was about $11,500. All these items are for sale together (I don't want to split them) for: £3000 Important note: I bought the Casoli body because the Febur ensemble was too lovely to risk on a race track. The Casoli GRP body is an GRP Febur-replica that simply bolts on in a few minutes and means the clip-ons don't need moving - in fact all settings will remain the same twixt Febur and Casoli items. It is a bit 'orange' in the way the that Alfa Romeo red always looked a bit orange… But the paintwork is in very good condition save for some cracks and two or three chips to the leading edge of the underpan, which fits under tension and wraps around the bottom to join each side-panel. The Febur body, in contast, is rather better designed. The original Motowheels bike was featured in 2 Wheel Tuner and pictures of that article are included in the Photobucket set. All items located Wiltshire, UK. Any questions, please email Richard Sutton at [email protected] PS Please note that I forgot to include the front Febur fender in the group shot. It is included!
Putney very kindly listed this for me. Price drop to £2500 for the whole lot. The Casoli body is probably worth about £180 by the way… I include it because it's handy and to have for track days when you won't want to necessarily risk the Febur/Buri carbon kit.
Listed on EBay at £2100. But want to clear £1950. The tank has cost me that on its own…! There's another thread on this kit on the EBay pages. Red Casoli body now sold STP. Thank you Keith.
