  1. Can someone tell me please as this will be my first time.. To measure the closing valve shim on my 2 valve, do you guys buy the tool (button) or use something else instead ?

    Thanks

  5. That tool will fit the shims from the 4V engines and the shims from the later 2V engines with the 7mm valve stems. It will not fit the earlier engines, up to about 2003 with 8mm valve stems. If your engine has round valve inspection covers it's the later type.
For these I'd advise using the tool, for the 8mm type you can get away without one, using a micrometer measuring from the bottom of the ridge inside the shim to the base of the shim. Fiddly, but with practice you get better at it.

  6. Thanks Derek.. Your a star...
