Epoxacast - Anyone Used It?

  1. I'm thinking about ways to replicate some bodywork panels with sheet steel.

    I've done a bit of sheet steel work before but the parts I want to copy are pretty complicated, too complicated for me to fabricate with no sheet metal tools any way. I was thinking about making a mould using a product that could form the right shape then set very, very hard and that could take a lot of heat. And then beat the crap out of it with some panel hammers and a gas torch.

    A brief Google suggests a product called epoxAcast 670HT.

    Has anyone used it, know about it or can suggest a better technique or product to make panels from sheet steel?

  4. Depends on what you are trying to achieve. Sheet alloy easier to work than sheet steel. Delrin can be worked too. Details on the application will give indications as to what material to use.

  5. Cafe racer panels for a street triple. Wanting to use steel to match the patina on the tank, which is steel. Front flyscreen and rear seat surround fairing.

  8. Can't you use hardwood to form the mould - then bash and heat away?

  9. I wanted to press the oem part in to clay, make a mould in epoxy from that clay and the batter the mould. It's the making of the mould that's the hardest part, rather than the bashing.
