1200 Pirelli Gt

  1. Just had three days round the Brecons stayed in Llandovery, loved it roads brill but tyre is dead starting to shred in the center, 90% of my riding is two up. Tyre has done 5900 miles was on the limit before we went so time for a new one.

  2. I would almost 6000 miles on any tyre was good going.

Sinister would disagree of course. He gets 100,000 miles from his "tires". Which is a contradiction in terms, as they'd never be "tired" in a month of Sundays with him riding.

  3. That tyre is well buggered! Pirellis have a habit of going through to the "canvas" very quickly indeed once the wear limit is reached. A few friends of mine have been caught out on a run of a couple of hundred miles or so. I think I'll stick with the Michelins. The last PR3 did 7,038 mies which is the most I've got out of any rear tyre on any bike ever in the last 40 years or so.

  4. If the tyre was on the limit before you departed, why put yourselves in danger by riding on a tyre in that condition?

  5. Thought my PR4 was buggered, checked it Fri night and got couple mill off the wear indicators, 5300 miles and counting

  6. Not me. But plenty of folk are happy to set off with a tyre that is just legal and then find themselves running out of rubber earlier than anticipated. Pirelli tyres seem to do so more than other makes. I suspect they have a thinner carcass than say Michelins which definitely feel heavier.

  7. never had a tyre do that, always had bridgestones and it happened on way home, will be more careful with the next one

  8. Yep same happened to mw when I took the wife to Whitby for a weekend, 5200 miles I aint complaining that's good for me.

  9. As said above, pirelli seem to, but there is no tread on the centre to give indication of wear

  10. @Red 1 - I notice that you disagreed with my post. On what grounds?
