What Are The Best Tyres For 18" Wheels?

  1. My project Kr1000 No1 will be running a rear Dymag with a 4.00" Rim @ 18 Dia and the front 2.75" Rim @ 18" diameter.
The bikes originally ran Dunlop tyres but as this bike is going on the road initially I need whatever is the best for 'stickiness' (not bothered about wear rate).

I realise the tyre choice is limited, probably to sport/touring type tyres but does anyone have any recommendations as to what is the best tyre?

Also for the rear I think a 150 tyre is bang on correct and a 160 from what I have Googled is for 4.00/4.50/5.00" rims - anyone run a 160 on a 4.00" rim and is it too over profiled?

  2. All of the classic endurance guy's use Conti sport attack , my mate who is building a Jota has just taken delivery of a set , they are nice and soft and pass the thumb nail test

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. Thanks for that, I'll have a look at the website

  4. It looks like they don't do Sport Attack in 18", but I found Road Attack 'Classic Race' tyres on the website in the right size so looks like these for me - thanks again for the lead!

  5. Thanks, I'll check them out too

  6. The NC30 lads all talk about BT090 and BT092. Not sure if they are good or not though.

I'm a big fac of Conti road attack so if I could get them in 18" I'd buy them.

  7. That's another option and a lot cheaper (£150 Vs £90 for a rear having a quick Google) but only H rated, but just re checked and the Road Attack Classic Race at 150 profile 18" is only H too, where the 130 profile 18" section and all the other sizes appear to be V rated - seems strange...
