748 748 Single Seat Conversion?

  1. 1999 Ducati 748

Just wondering if the sub-frame needs to be changed when going from a bp twin seat to a single seat rear section?

  2. Great, thanks RickyX

  3. But, you need to alter the lock bracket as the mono subframe sits higher than the biposto, so the mono seat latch pin bracket will not reach the biposto lock mechanism.

Easily done though by either spacing the latch pin bracket or buying/making a specific bracket...

  4. Ducati used to sell spacers for the job, they were quite long though. When I did my very first conversion I went that route and found I had to cut a spacer in half to get the seat to sit right.

Custom spacers are the best route.

  5. I used an off cut of 15mm plastic plumbing pipe to make the spacers and some longer allen key bolts. Its also worth noting that the seat pad is different on the single seaters. Depending on which seat unit you go for, the bip seat unit will fit, but the mono looks better as it comes higher up the back.

  6. I have a number of em and aftermarket spacers and bolts if your stuck.
