As a change to the shiny carbon bits this is the result of 120 miles of lanes over the North and South Downs. Usual suspects on the run 5 x 1200GS, 2 x Triumph and One Ducati! Urban mode works well for the mucky bits, softer power and suspension, Sport or Touring for the faster link roads before the next muddy lane. Suppose I'll have to wash it soon! One EXVL error for a few miles - probably mud or a stone in the Exhaust valve assembly but it cleared at the next stop.
Took my machine to the dealer looking like that to have the brake fixed; picked it up today and they had washed and polished it FOC
OMG, I thought my OCD was under control but after looking at the pictures I had to go out to the garage and polish mine again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of us do take our machines off road; here on a gravel road high up in the French Alps last month. This vid is posted on another thread (Hairpin Heavan) but for those who have not seen it: Alps 2012 part 5 - YouTube Starts on tarmac then goes to gravel, the camera steams up a bit on the way up due to the temp change.
They were great, fitted them before I set off to the Alps, 2500 miles later they stil look fine. They didn't cut up or get damaged by 20+ miles of gravel, not much mud use but fine for a road tyre and so much better than the Original Scorpions
PR3's in the mud are the same as any other road tyre - not that good! Keep the bike upright, keep the speed down, ride smoothly, dont touch the brakes, dont change gear and pick a line (usually left hand side) and stay with it. The real muddy stuff was done at no more than 20-25mph and in parts less than that. One thing I did notice is that the PR3's pick up a lot of small stones and stuff. They were then pinging off the tyre as we ploughed through the gritty bits and back onto some sort of tarmac. Have not noticed any cuts or marking etc, maybe the small stones get picked up in the small grooves and then fly out. Overall a very good tyre that does good mileage. Next run will be spring for the Bluebells, unless we have a nice cold wet day in winter and decide to do a re-run! Still have to clean mine from this last run.
