Carbon Hugger

  1. Not sure which forum to stick this in so will try here! Anyone know where i might get a carbon rear hugger or Front fender for a 1989 Ducati 750 sport?...Many thanks

  2. I suggested Diopa to someone (maybe you) on ducatipaso.org but it turned out that Diopa only do these in glassfibre for that model.

  3. Yes it was me Derek, i'm asking everyone! Diopa were very difficult and slow with any replies but they came back and said they could do a Carbon one. When I asked was it woven carbon they said no its like it is in the picture which didn't help as you couldn't tell what the finish was. Turns out it's just "made of carbon" and I have to guess the finish. When pushed on the Glass ones they've come back and said they are red finish....so i've given up there. Not paying a lot of money up front when they don't know themselves what the finish is and can't give a pic of the finished product as it is

  4. I thought all carbon fibre was 'woven'. Maybe I'm just naive. I'd expect the glass fibre ones to be self coloured and red would the obvious one. You'd think they could give you a picture or a better answer though. Good luck with your search.

  5. No carbon is basically just single strands that are either "woven" into a cloth like appearance to give strength in all directions or can be just in sheets with strands all going in one direction called "UD",Uni directional. As the guy says it doesn't look like woven I can only assume it's made with UD. This doesn't really make sense as that would only give strength in the one direction which you don't really want. But as I said if they can't answer these basic manufacturing questions then i ain't going to part with the money. It's a shame as I like their designs.

  6. if they were just laymen then they might not have understood the question - especially if all they ever get through the door is a plain weave or a twill. Ultimately they'll be bucket and brush clagging merchants so going highbrow about weave styles might well be utterly lost on them.

If you're really that pushed for one Mike, just make one using your existing one as a mould or alternatively buy one of the grp ones and take a splash off that.

  7. I sent them a photo of woven carbon and they replied that it looked nothing like that.

  8. in that case just take a splash of of yours and make your own. Or look for a used grp on fleabay to take a splash from?
