1200 Link Pipes

  1. I know there is many a thread on this.
However where can I get the termi decat pipe no can?
Also do you recon I could fit an akropovic can to it? Also anyone done this yet?
    Cheers, Josh

  2. I've the Mivv decat pipe and Akrapovic.
It looks the dogs in my opinion and sounds awesome but loud.
However, did 3000 miles touring Europe and didn't get pulled for the noise.
I had it breathed on by CJS and bhp increased from 139bhp to 151bhp.
It's subjective I know but personally I think it looks miles better than the Termi.

  3. Yea looks much nicer, just got an e-mail from Akrapovic themselves and apparently they will be releasing a full system in 2015 for the multi due to such high demand. I may weight and hope it is all titanium.

  4. The Akropovic end can that fits the OE cat does not fit the Leo Vince decat pipe without modifying the pipe. The Leo Vince "baffle" does not fit the Akropovic end can which makes it LOUD and attention drawing. Personal experience. Andy

  5. Yea I will probably wait for the Akrapovic full system as this cat has gotta go

  6. That is odd. The LV decat has an arrangement so you can fit the OE end can if I remember correctly, by virtue then you would think it would accept other cans using the same OE fitment.

  7. The Akrapovic end can is waisted where the pipe bells out to the shape of the can, this makes the socket that the LV pipe fits into too short by about 5-10mm. The LV baffle only fits inside the OE end can which has a double skin arrangement. Andy

  8. Thank you, useful insight :upyeah:

  9. ;) The answer lies in getting and fitting one of Ben's decat' pipes, as have been previously mentioned by AndyW, when he owned a Mutli. Refer to previous threads on this site.
I've just recently bought one and the S/S quality is absolutely stunning and I'm in the process of fitting it. I've based my set-up using an Akrapovic end can, with a baffle included in the Ben kit and would have finished it by now, had I not had a problem with the exhaust header nuts + studs, which I've had to get all replaced, as they ALL sheared.
Fixed now and back with me, so this weekend should see the task done, so I will be able to comment authoritatively on how easy the job was and how good a fit.
So far everything seems to measure-up perfectly, but once fitted, I'll provide some photos + feedback.

If interested PM me and I'll send you over some details to contact Ben, he's offering a discount to this clan and will build to order. :upyeah:

  10. But Ben's decat had design flaws such that CJS said it needed modifying before putting it on the dyno. Has it been tested for power and noise?

  11. o_O DenH, I'm not sure about that, I had thought there were some early physical adjustments needed, regarding the centre stand stop and fitment to allow the Akra end can to fit properly, but as to any other modifications as noted from CJS, around power and noise, no idea!

Have you any further information that might add some light here? :Bag:

  12. I went full arrow system in the end so I have a lightly used 'Ben' style decat pipe and a cut down slip on Termi and heatshield with refitted brackets to suit but its quite loud .... just looking to recoup the 300 quid for the decat, the Termi slipon i'll throw in as its cut down to suit the pipe so useless without it. Msg me if your interested open to sensible offers. Thx

  13. Tony, last summer I was selected to get the pipes free from Ben in return for having them fitted and then put on CJSs dyno. (The offer was advertised on this forum through AndyW). The aim was to get the power figures and reasonable noise levels which may have led to higher sales for him so mutual benefit. After waiting for six weeks for dyno time it was cancelled the day before as soon as CJS saw the pipes. I couldn't get a straight answer from either of them as to what the problem was. It was surprising since Ben has already sold a few and has continued selling since!

Cjs stated that I should expect a number of visits to get the pipes right. I am 200 miles away and had a few problems going on so cancelled the deal and have stuck with the standard exhaust. Throughout communication from both cjs and Ben was very poor. I do not know if Ben has further developed the pipes or still selling to the original design.

I would recommend to take care and get all the facts before proceeding. AndyW may have followed up as he was in the loop from the beginning.

  14. :Arghh: Den, I have to say I did do a bit of back-tracking on the subject matter and did realise that you were the previous 'winner', however, I didn't appreciate that it had all stalled as you now clarify.
I have no idea whether or not Ben took on board any implied and actual 'criticism/observations' on his pipe set-up, so I'll call him tomorrow to see what he has to say.

The only follow-up I have seen from AndyW has been pretty positive, but I think this was based upon quality of the unit and the accuracy of fit, etc, which having looked at on my bike in terms of line-up and apparent fit, looks really good and as to the visible quality, as I have already noted, looks very high.

Not finalised yet, but I expect it to be this weekend, as long as Riders Ducati from Bristol, provide me with the exhaust nuts + gasket that I ordered a little over two weeks ago that is, so after this I'll run the bike up before fitting all the panels, to check for noise levels and completeness, plus I'll take a few photos and let all see them on here as a matter of interest.

I don't know what else to say or do at this stage to be honest, I'll see how it goes and if the worst comes to the worst, I'll have to think about re-fitting the sodding useless EXVL back on, but let's remain +ve MR.N.....o_O

  15. Good luck with it. There was never any doubt that the quality is excellent. I wonder if cjs has put one on the dyno? My feeling was that it had not been 'designed' rather just constructed. From what I have read (but knowing nothing) I understand that both pipes must be the correct length and come together at an acute angle - just for starters. Should these things be designed on computer to suit a modern engine? Small changes can really affect power at different rpm as I understand it. Just changing the diameter changes torque characteristics. This is part of the reason I decided to stick with Ducati's expensively developed system.

I hope you are happy with the result. Let us know how you get on.

  16. :Banghead: Well things aren't really going quite to plan here, with a few niggles, which I am in the process of trying to get in touch with Ben about to see if they can be solved.
Once I've managed to get in contact with Ben, I'll update anyone interested, only fair to see what his views are first.:Muted:

  17. Thanks for the update Tony. Intrigued as to the niggles but hope it works out whichever way you go in the end. From posts on here the Leo Vince system works very well (I think the best performer on CJSs dyno). No longer produced but they come up for sale now and again.

  18. ;) Sent the link pipe back to Ben, who I have to say has followed-up brilliantly!
He has been in contact with CJS to review the set-up problems mentioned previously and is going to modify my link pipe to rectify the gas flow issues described!

He's also going to sort out the 'niggles' I referred to:
    * Centre stand stop mis-alignment.
    * Internal baffle securing position.
    * Akrapovic end can retaining pin location.
    * Akrapovic carbon shroud mounting points.
    * Lengthening the front header pipe link pipe to improve the fit/overlap.

He was genuinely interested in resolving all the above and got in touch promptly, advising he would aim to get the pipe back to me within a week, plus reimburse my postage costs.

I am now looking forward to getting the pipe back and fitting again.
Incidentally the electronic gizmo I fitted to get rid of the EXVL error on the dash, by bypassing the cable operated valve works superbly.

    :upyeah:

  19. I have just ordered an LV mid pipe to replace my MIVV decat as I want to get the sound (great as it is!) down a bit. I am hoping that the LV with the small baffle section will be slightly quieter. I really like the MIVV Suono end pipe but would appreciate anyone's thoughts on the fit as I suspect they won't go together without some modification?

  20. I'm afraid that the LV "baffle" which is sold separately only fits inside the OE end can. I am still looking at getting a bespoke baffle made by MHP. Andy
