900ss / 749 Wheel Information Please :)

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Sev, Nov 18, 2014.

  1. Could one of you helpful people give me the following measurements please:

    900SS

Wheel width from the centre to the centreline of the sprocket

    749 (5.5” rim)

Wheel width from the centre to the centreline of the sprocket

Rolling radius from centre of axle to contact patch of tyre (rough will do) J

    Many thanks in advance

  2. picture of what i'm after if it helps...

    900ss / 851 /888 or any 5.5x17 rim.

  3. You're going to need to be more specific about what wheel you actually want. Any 5.5x17 will not do as the sprocket offset from the centre line is not generally the same from model to model. And radius to tyre contact patch will also change dependant on tyre profile. To the rim it would obviously be 8.5 inches.

  4. Oooooo. Just re-read. And this answer will be less helpful than the last. I don't have either wheel, have you thought about taking a tape measure to a Ducati dealers?

  5. I have SSie and 999. How accurate do you need these measurements. Can do tape with wheel in bike over next day or 2 if that's any use.

  6. @1037sps, you're right, but It's really a broad stroke set of measurements I need so they can come off any wheel really, I'm just trying to collate data of sprocket offsets across a range of wheels I'd like to use.

@900streetfighter, doesn't have to be that accurate, within a mm or two.

I'll stick a thread up in projects soon, and this is really just to get an idea of whether I can achieve what I want to do. I'd like to use a 180 section, so really I'm looking at stuff which has such a rim in order to get an idea of how tight I can run things - Ducati thoughtfully package quite tight and their design is quite lean compared to oem japanese stuff so I'm using it as a benchmark initially.

    :)

  7. I run a 180 on my SS and 999. so tyre radius will be all to cock anyway, wrong width for both bikes plus both tyres half worn.

  8. perfect, its the differences between the two sprocket offsets I'm interested in, the rolling radius is just a broad "ish" so I can get an idea of a boundry volume, so in that respect, I'd take the rough figure and add some to create a tyre envelope so to speak. but that would be perfect - ss and 999 dims :)

  9. SSie. measurement A. 108mm.
