Gauging Any Interest 1198 Sp

Discussion in 'Ducati Bikes For Sale' started by dukeman358, Dec 3, 2014.

  1. I am just trying to see if my bike is worth selling complete.

I purchased this bike new in April 2011. I added a host of extras.

I was involved in an accident on 1 June 2013 and the bike was damaged and classed as a Cat C write off. I had already decided to buy the bike back as I knew it was a fabulous machine. I paid over £6k for it. This was non negotiable from the salvage company who we're dealing on behalf of the insurer.

It is fair to say that if I had received an in depth engineers report I would not have bought it back as my plan was to use it as a track bike!

When I stripped it I found the front forks more damaged than expected along with other stuff that I have spent a small fortune replacing.

I managed to,get it sorted for a couple of track days in 2014 but due to some fuelling issues and me still being injured it was not as successful as I was expecting.

The plan was to have another go at sorting the bike which requires the replacement of a fuel injector and some dyno time to get it set up properly and get at it in 2015. Failing that it will become a parts strip down and sell.

When I bought it back I did some quick sums that told me I should not really lose.

V5 and frame although some minor damage is still good for at least £1k
    marchisini wheels, discs etc £750
    Engine £1500
    Brakes,
Front ohlins forks, new tube and overhauled.
    Rear ohlins TTX shock
And the remainder of the bike

So you can see there is a lot of value in use bike.

Generally the fairings took a beating but are all repairable and useable for track in the main plus I ended up collecting another complete set and have other bits I previously modified.

As I said I'm looking for some interest and realistic offers.

    Cheers

  2. Definitely worth more in parts I'd say. Would be a shame to sell up though after all the work you've put into it.

    Those fairings are nice ;-)

  4. :)
Thanks Ali, yes this definitely wasn't the plan but!!!!

The fairings are pretty damn tidy:)

  5. Thanks pal, the black wheels are the standard light ones and the white ones I think are from a 1098 but feel even lighter. The guy I bought them from had painted them but I've always wanted some rain wheels and they look reet smart on it.

  6. I forgot to mention the full 70mm slash cut Termi,s. DP seat showing signs of use now.

The alloy tank was hit hard but I had that repaired to track standard. I guess it could be made to look a lot better but as usual I was too eager to get it running. It would have been cheaper to get a replacement plastic one.

  7. Think you could factor in a bit more for the motor :)

  9. Why does it need dyno time mate, are there aftermarket electronics on it or something? It sounds like you only have minor stuff to get on top of? as said above it's always a shame to have to move it on if it is nearly there as a track bike, unless you are not planning to do any more track work or just want to move to something easier to maintain.
