2005 999S STATIC SAG Question

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by jacknell, Aug 11, 2012.

  1. Any ideas on a good base suspension setting for trackdays /racing for a 999s. 13 stone rider med to fast rider. Also need to get a static sag setting for front and rear.:upyeah:

  2. I could only advise you to go and get it set up by a good suspension company.

K-Tech did mine and the difference it made was amazing. When they did it there was much more to it than just setting the sag.

For what it costs (40 quid) its the best cash to spend on your bike and will benefit you much more than internet advice.

I say this because my settings are way off what I had read which goes to show every bike is different.

    Give it a go.

  3. From memory static 5-10mm rider sag 30-40 is a track ranfe but not got my notes to hand.

From slighly bigger, think its 20mm static and 35-45 rider

Long as front and rear return at same rate its a good place to start. Heres a good series on youyube try searching motorcycle suspension set up, tall blonde guy with shorts normally

Best advice tho is get a pro to do it :)

  5. The sag only really tells you of the springs are the right wieght for yu, ie if static is 8mm, and rider should be 30 but is 20, its too firm etc. Bear in mind any change to sag will also alter geometry, as it will sit slightly higher/lower
