748SP 1198S sleeper project

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Cranker V2, Nov 18, 2013.

  1. Progress again today, getting there I think the expression is.

Coolant lines all tight, though now not so pretty (I will improve eventually). Battery and reg rect all mounted. Another sprocket installed with correct retaining bolt. No quickshifter for this blighter yet so a standard race pattern lever in use, and a new rear brake lever to match.

Recess made in airbox for throttle linkage and siliconed together ( damn I wish I could weld alloy at home).

And titanium goodies put in lower triple clamp. As Neslon has pointed out the oil cooler doesn't sit centrally on the evo heads, so I started on the little job of getting it central.

  3. Triggers Broom

  4. So the airbox and throttle bodies are in. I also made an attempt to tidy up the wiring loom at the front. Smal steps and all that.

  7. Well, it runs! I fired her up just five minutes ago. A bit smokey so I will check my TPS connections in the morning. The re-valved shock is due back next week..............then its time for fine setting up on CJS's dyno. Then Ducati Trackday at Donnington, The yellow smokey (!) thing tramping around the track will be Yellow Shed MkIII with me aboard.

  8. Top bombing. Lets hope it can keep up with my upright touring numpty lol

  9. Looks great with some real nice kit there and I thought that exhaust looks familiar as I sold it brand new to matt.Good news is its the quieter version than the one I have so should be better for Uk trackday restrictions on noise.

Mine is the older Akrapovic evo version that is more open.Sounds fantastic but I bet mine would be a nightmare for getting past the noise guys at td's for sure.

    Great project you got there:upyeah:

  10. A very late update.

After a few months of minimal activity (ie work got in the way), the shed is going for its second dyno set up tomorrow. A few changes have occurred since the the last aborted set up. 748 loom and ECU replaced with 1098 loom and ECU, anaologue carbon race dash replaced with 1098 dash, nemesis TC added, HM quickshifter added, rear rain light installed.

I'm so looking forward to my late birthday present/early Christmas present being finally motor fettled, just in time for a chassis strip and re-build for the final time. I hope its quicker than my new car too ;)

  11. Have embarked on a similar project after two and a half years ,more off than on.Recently had it on the dyno putting out 170 brake before set up.so hopefully at last after a whole series of up dates and changes . Looking forward to some proper track time and less head scratching.

  12. After contact with the Dyno guy on Friday, set up will continue today. A Fair few error codes where traced out and have delayed the full set up. Lets see what today brings shall we? How much bhp and torque? In the real world this counts for nothing of course.

  13. Will you tell us the figures?

  14. Never ever. Just in case they are wrong or my imagination runs away with my. 550 flt/lbs and 340bhp is my target

  15. Wrong vehicle! The car is booked in for next week.

  16. Dyno runs always make me nervous.had one a few years ago let go resulting in fried big end and knackered crank. To add insult to injury a bill for 3 k

  17. On that dyno 194 bho and 106 lf ft ;) lol

  18. 10rwhp down on 175 target. lbs/ft to be revealed...........................

  19. dont forget that its at this point you point out that the dyno is notoriously a low reader....
