Moto Gp- Watching Online Via Bt Sport Question

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by CRYSTALJOHN, Jan 5, 2015.

  1. After much deliberation I have signed my life away to BT as I wanted to watch MotoGP this season.

I didn't want to pay another £5/month to BT for their TV package, so I have elected to watch it via the online service, or via an app.

I'm unsure as to whether I can watch the racing anytime with this setup, or will I have to watch it live?

I would be grateful for any clarification.

  2. You could ask the BT staff but they haven't got a clue, my experience with them is that they will promise you free paddock passes just to get a sale. However back to your question, yes you should be able to watch it at other times, I've just looked on my iPad and there's a shed load of Valencia, Moto 3,2 and GP then various highlight programmes. Also a lot of magazine type programmes which I haven't noticed before.

  3. That's the reason for my post Drinky, I was unable to get an answer from BT, I kept getting conflicting info'!

I did ask them on several occasions if it would be possible to watch BT sport online, and then watch my laptops screen content on my tv via an hdmi cable; a simple enough question I thought, ffs anyone would think I was asking for an explanation of quantum mechanics!

I have managed to answer that question myself now though, as I now have my log in info and can actually watch BTsport online- Deep joy.

Thanks for answering my question, much appreciated.

  4. In 2014 it was not an on demand service so you did have to watch it live. Then as Drinky says there was various follow up programs, but by then it was on the recorder from the ITV4 program on Mondays.

  5. you can get the bt app n watch it on ipad iphone and i can watch it on my windows based comp
only thing you cant do is watch it outside UK..iv tried
hiding behind a VPL is a bit hit n miss too...but does work sometimes

  6. johnv has just made a very valid point, the service offered by BT does not provide an on demand option. Unfortunately as I usually watch on my girlfriend's Sky box, I do not know if the highlight programmes offer Moto2 and Moto3 coverage. Without doubt, last season produced some of the most entertaining racing in Moto3. If you have a desktop PC with modern on board graphics or a dedicated graphics card with a second output, you should be able to mirror what's on the monitor using Windows on an HD ready TV via an adaptor cable. 7. The ITV4 program showed the full MotoGP race followed by very short Moto2 and Moto3 reports.

To get the full race day experience you did need BT Sport.

I am assuming that 2015 will be the same, BUT I don't know for certain.

  8. I can mirror what's on my monitor, and watch on my HD ready TV using an adapter cable, just been watching some of the spectacular moment from last seasons racing. I had such a frustrating time trying to get a definitive answer from the ill informed staff as to whether or not this was possible.

Last seasons racing, I managed to see by mostly watching Ch4's catch up program, which was better than nothing, but the ad breaks ruined my enjoyment.

Disappointed that there is no on demand service though.

  9. Unfortunately that is the drawback of a business model that has to cut corners in order to minimise the damage of paying way too much for the right to show the sport. If you pay peanuts, the people who you really need to man your call centre quite rightly aren't interested. Andy

  10. I tend to find that the majority of call centers only seem to be able to deal with straightforward questions, very few of them seem to use any initiative. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box either, but at least If I don't know the answer I will try to find someone who does.

  11. If you have your computer connected to your tele, you could use rojadirecta.me.
That's what I use for the racing or for when the kids want to watch their football. I can't get it to work through the iPad though.

  12. I pay BT for the channels via Sky. I also have the app on the I pad. Working shifts I nearly always record it. One weekend I buggered up and it didn't record although I watched the MotoGP live I missed the other 2 races or so I thought. I watched the full races on my I pad through the week via the app I believe you have to wait a day before they are available

  13. I don't mind waiting a day or two before they become available, would be a real bonus for me to be able to watch it on demand.
I'm so bloody excited now at the prospect of being able to watch all the racing, feel like a kid at christmas!

  15. Bettes I have tried using various free means of watching the racing last year, although I could watch some of it, I seemed to be plagued with buffering issues, and poor quality. It appeared to me that they were using a video camera pointed at a legitimate TV screen displaying the racing and then propagating it online.

  16. My manc mate has BT Sport and he streams the motogp to me, so I've watched pretty much every race in every class for nowt. It's the way forward:upyeah:

  17. Don't wind me up Fig after I have just parted with my hard earned.

My brothers missus works for BT, but she's so straight that I haven't even bothered to ask for the password.

  18. S'true though. I've not had any issues with streaming either. Now my mate is a computer savvy geezer, but I wouldn't have thought it was a particularly hard thing to set up. Too late for you CJ, but some other people may be reading this thread and despairing about missing the motogp. If so it's time to be nice to your mates...

  19. If you've got an idevice with the BT sport app and Apple tv you can airplay it to your tv. The quality is perfect (I do it through my phone), you may be able to do it with android phone and android tv but I've not got them so I can't say for sure.

  20. Got an iphone, but the one vital component missing is the Apple TV!
