Abba Stand....where Does It Fit

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by welsh999, Jan 15, 2015.

  1. Hi all,

I have Ducati 749 and 999. Looking to get an Abba stand but can any one tell me does it fit on the swing arm pivot or on the hole in the frame above (engine mount bolt). (will be removing swing arm)

    Regards

    Nige

  2. Yes, it's the swing arm pivot. The socket-ended side goes over the large nut, the insert-side goes ... on the other side :)

  3. You can fit in the Swing Arm - standard fitment - or remove the foot-pegs and get a different adapter for swing arm removal:

  6. Sorry! :(

  7. Thanks for info gents. I have a rolling chasis and engine ready to go in on my project bike. Looking for a way to support frame to remove swing arm pivot bolt to install engine.

  8. That's OK, concentrate more, I think @Ducbird un-nerved you

  9. Could you turn the he footpegs upside down and get an axle stand under each side? That's my preferred method but I don't know if it would work OK on a 999 style.

  10. You could use them the right way round, but I would strap them on to prevent accidents

  11. Could you not just chuck it on its side?

  12. Yes and you wouldn't even have to strap it down :)

  13. Axle stands sounds a good plan. Thanks for the info all.

  14. Just remember to strap them, we don't want any accidents - free your swing arm bolt before lifting and make sure it moves otherwise you might end up with everything on the floor!

  16. Abba do inserts that go in the frame lugs above the swing arm pivots to allow swing arm removal .
I made my own up using what was around when I changed my swinger ! On 1 side I used a 3/8 socket of some sort .
Under the main frame /box section of the Abba stand I used substantial blocks of wood so i had the height for the back wheel to be off the ground . Sorted .
