Coming to the end of a 1098 engine rebuild being asked if I want the cam timing altered.... anyone had theirs done? Figures he's given me: Standard timing, inlet opens 15 deg BTDC, exhaust opens 60 BBDC. Modified figures are, inlet 23 BTDC, exhaust 56 BBDC. So, inlet is advanced 8 degrees ie opens earlier, and exhaust is advanced 4. Says it "may" result in better mid range but unsure if it's a worthwhile thing to do or leave it standard setting? Seems more of a race thing, advice from anyone who's had this done would be appreciated.
