Can anyone offer any ideas where is a nice relaxing day out within 90 mins drive of Derbyshire. Just looking for a walk around shops, sightsee, and maybe some food etc. York seems obvious choice but been there a few times. What's harrogate like? Ps this is a day out for my mrs , not me so bikey things aren't gonna wash.
I would go to York again.......nicer than 'Arrogate IMO........ ...............but you could always do that walk at Malham Cove............
Bearing in mind my mrs is Spanish so coastal towns may be a bit cold. Done Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, before
Not sure what kind of things you both like, but we had a nice day out visiting Fountains Abbey near Ripon & then went a little further north to Masham. Both the Theakstons Brewery & the Black Sheep Brewery are in Masham. We didn't have time to visit both so we opted for the Black Sheep Brewery. Had a great time & a nice meal in the restaurant. I was driving so couldn't get into the beer tasting (Her Indoors enjoyed it), but made up for it by taking some cases of ale home. She can drive when we visit the Theakstons Brewery, my turn to taste!
Chester is a peach of a place if she likes shopping, split level, very unique, but if you have never been to Belper then this is an excellent place, check out Liquid Treasure for starters!
Come up to Leeds Dom. We could go for a walk around then Toñi can get the tapas laid on. Harrogate is worth a visit for a couple of hours, skipton's worth a quick visit. Howarth's ok for a bit.
Lincoln -- good for a walk around, take a cathedral tour and there are some fantastic tea shops around the cathedral area, cakes to die for. Newark -- again good centre shopping, walk around the castle, then have afternoon tea on the river boat cruise, if you have time call in to sherwood forest ( edwinstowe ) and take her to see the major oak and tell her of the legend of robin hood.
