I was thinking of adding a charger to my iphone, as Ive seen people doing it. this would be for a Hypermotard sp. the idea is to have the cable getting right below the display, so I can charge my phone while in the cradle, for longer trips I've stumbled into this: iPhone 5 Direct to Battery Hard Wire Motorcycle Charging Cable (SKU 16112) :: [ BuyBits ] I already own their cradle which is good quality. do you guys think it's easy to install? how would I have the wire pass through to the front go the bike? thanks
Sort of relevant, i fitted a USB powered socket to my Honda VFR a few weeks ago, depending on the access it's a good idea to be able to follow a main loom that runs the length of the bike and use the same main looms cable supports as they're usually rubber or plastic coated so won't chafe the wiring and keeps it neat. In your case connecting that iphone 5 charging cable direct to battery should be fine as there's nothing to drain the battery over time but in my case the USB socket i fitted had 2 illuminated blue LED's which i measured to draw constant 25milliamps which would drain the battery over weeks so i wired it into an ignition-live relay. But if yours is just a cable there will be no current drain so direct to battery will be fine.
Yeah that's the outfit that does loads of mounts isn't it? They know what they're doing and it's got an on off switch on the black box, neat. Have you already bought by this time?
