I'm looking to fit some additional lights before the trip to Spain this year (and to help with visibility in London traffic). Ideally I'd like the Ducati Performance ones, (but they are pretty big bucks), also find it hard online? I've looked at these cheaper options as well: 1 Pair Black 10W LED Spot Light Ducati Multistrada 1200 Hypermotard 1100 S | eBay These look like the same ones! Motopro LED Spot Lights Narrow Angle | Bykebitz Super Bright 10w CREE LED Spotlights Lights Fits Ducati Multistrada | eBay Has anyone come up with a sensible mounting option that doesn't involve cracking radiators or engine bars? The SW Motech ones seem very high to me, with ugly brackets: Ducati HAWK Fog Light Kits
I went through a similar situation last year looking at various options. In the end I bit the bullet and bought the DP ones. They were the best fit with an integrated look and fitted switchgear. Plus as a DP part you will get a 2 year warranty. What sold me most of all is the build quality of the units, they are super quality, but as you say, they are top $. My dealer is pretty good and offer discounts to the tune of 10-15% on accessories as I bought the bike from them. I fitted them myself as they wanted 2hrs labour. You will have to remove the tank for a "factory fit" but I have seen posts from others doing something more creative. It's not a difficult task.
I fitted a pair of these 2PCS 125W Motorcycle Motorbike CREE U5 LED Driving Head Spot Light Headlight | eBay I made my own brackets and mounted them below the beak. They put out more light than the headlights! :Wideyed: I aimed them so the top of their beam is just level with the top of the dip cut-off.
Thanks, I saw those ones as well, they looked a bit bigger than I had in mind. Very Rugged and Touratech looking though. Love the description: "outside the brightness of the starts" Any chance of a picture of your mounting solution? Have others put a separate switch on, or just wired them up to the dip beam?
Psy69 - Does the performance part provide all the wiring you require as well? There seem to be 2 options listed, this one for 2015 bikes with brackets, but no wiring 2015 Multistrada 1200 Set of Auxiliary LED Headlights, Ducati Glasgow Shop And this one is for bikes up to 2014, with wiring but no brackets? I mounted them on an alloy bar fitted under the beak putting them in a similar position to the factory ones. This picture doesn't do them justice, they are far smaller than they look I assure you, about 50mm diameter. They are actually 10W Cree LEDs, claiming to be a 125W equivalent of conventional bulbs. I wired them to the satnav output and fitted a handlebar switch. At switch on they come on at full brightness. If you switch them off and on again they come on flashing (not recommended), if you switch them off/on again they come up at half brightness (might be useful), another off/on sets them back to full brightness. I just wanted to be able to switch them off.
Yup, comes with everything needed to fit and operate including fitting instructions. Plugs into the pigtail under the left hand panel, and the wiring is such that is provides a new pigtail so you are not left without one.
Yes, as per previous post. In the case of the DP lights the wiring plugs into the existing pigtail and the lights wiring provides a new pigtail so you can add more options. Don't know if the DP satnav does similar as never had one.
Does anyone know if this one is suitable for the 2011 bike This is for bikes up to 2014, with wiring, but does this need extra brackets? Multistrada 1200 Additional Headlamps Kit LED
Aha. I understood there were already plugs for the lights. I was unaware there was a saddle harness that plugged into the GPS outlet. That means the GPS, lights and Power Outlets are all on one circuit with a max draw of what? 5 amps?
Brackets come with the kit. Unless your buying a specific individual parts (spares) then all DP parts come with everything required to fit (accessories).
I saw these Deneli DM1 Micro running lights at the Bike show and was very impressed by the intensity and the size of them, they were seriously bright. Denali DM1 Micro Lights Review - webBikeWorld They look small enough to mount under the beak area so I might go with these, I'd be interested in knowing how others have mounted anything similar.. http://www.rg-racing.com/browseType/denali_lights/DENTT-DM.aspx
Just got a set of Clearwater Lights = Clearwater Lights High Powered LED Motorcycle Lights and the Darla lights = Darla Info Page will soon installed on the Altrider Crashbars.
Thanks, they are a lot larger than I want and I don't have crash bars. The Deneli ones were tiny and bright, just wanted them to make me more visible.
I have the Ducati ones that came with the MTS1200GT and they are far and away better than the Touratech ones on my GS
Has anyone come across any good brackets that are easy to fit to the radiator mount or is under the beak another solution? Coming to the daylight running lights party rather late.... These look pretty good: http://d1l4i7f87txqmq.cloudfront.ne...ght_Mount/Instructions_LAH.22.10000_rev00.pdf But no UK supplier and resent paying $70 to ship a couple of pieces of bent metal from the States.
