1199 Termi Slip Ons - Are They Worth It??

  1. Just ran the bike in and wanted to find out if you guys have noticed any difference with fitting the Termi Slip On's and Up Map?

  2. I noticed a big difference on my 899. Biggest difference I've felt on any bike with a change of cans

  3. What are you wanting to gain from them? Mine is running the upmap but on std cans (Long story) The std cans are hardly quiet ok you may gain a few BHP some where but for me personally the cost vs gain is not worth it. On saying that if a set come up cheap I will grab them but they would have to be mega cheap

  4. Yep miles better.
smooth smooth smooth with Termi's and up map.

    Standard = lumpy

  5. Think I'd go full system if goin that far some decent priced used ones prob only done a few miles and seen no rain

  6. Termi end cans on the 1199 smooth the ride but full system smooths it out even more with noticeably more torque especially mid range. Definitely better off going for full system if you can stretch to it, you'll see a far more dramatic improvement than just end cans.

  7. Thanks for your comments guys, will keep my eyes peeled and make a decision.

  8. If I wanted smooth Id have bought a Honda

  9. I have a similar query, I have free Termi slip ons with my bike but dealership has offered to upgrade to full system, retail price of header manifold is £1300 but been offered at £950 plus labour for fitting and wondering if it is really worth it?

  10. I had the 848 Evo for a year before I upgraded to a full system, I noticed the difference straight away gave it loads more power but it was useable where as would it be usable on the 1199 probably not.
Think I will save the £900 and put it towards some carbon :)

  11. Guess we differ there,i would have the full system over carbon, your bike dont need carbon it looks beautiful as it is,mind you i do like the red badges on the stealth bikes.

  12. No, do it!. I upgraded from end cans to full system and noticed a huge difference in mid range torque and bike was smoother lower down. Vastly improved the overall feel and performance of the bike I've never regretted it. Id try and wangle the fitting into it for that price as its a 3-4 hour job at God knows what per hour.

  13. I did some quick thinking pro's and cons
    The only pro's are
    More power
    Better breathing

    Cons
I wont notice the extra power as I can't use it on the road and not that good a rider that I would even notice it on the track,
    Fuel consumption will increase

So its a 50/50 split until you take in to account the cost plus fitting then it becomes a 70/30 split in favour of just leaving it with slip ons.

Have bought a couple more bits for the bike mainly anodised stuff only carbon bits is hugger and key guard.
And I agree it prob won't need any more than that.

Might put the money towards a set of Rizoma rearsets and the rest towards a by cylinder remap which will reap its own rewards.

  14. £55 plus vat, and they told me 5.5 hrs.
What bike was that on that you went full system?

  15. 1199S. 5.5 hrs! Sounds like a long time. Inorder to fit the header pipes they need to remove the end cans so it's not like my bike was quicker to do because it already had the cans fitted. I only ride on the road and I'm definitely no expert rider but I like the way the bike puts down power more easily from lower revs.

  16. Apparently thats what is stated by the official book they have that quotes hours for jobs.
I asked a different dealer coz I was sceptical and they quoted me the same time.
I'm still running mine in so it is still stock, so the whole system has to come off, I have a couple of weeks to think about it.
I was out today had it in 4th and opened the throttle at about 2,500 revs and I was impressed at how easily it pulled and before you know it the 6k rev mark is lighting up.

  17. I think it's down to personal preference. If you're happy with the amount of power then maybe there's no point in spending the extra on the headers as you will still get the Termi sound effects from the end cans but without the extra expense . I had a 1098 before buying my 1199 and I felt the 1199 lacked the lower down torque that the 1098 had. It might sound like a daft thing to say as the 1199 is a very powerful bike but I don't think I'm alone in this opinion. For me the full system bridged the lack of torque that I'd been missing.

  18. You know what no it's not a daft thing to say. I have said the same about jumping from 848 to 899 on paper 899 is faster and more power in reality I felt the 848 Evo was a better bike to some extent felt like it had more grunt lower down. I am jumping from an 899 to the 1199 so it's a big leap where as going from 1098 to 1199 is only 100cc.
