Hi all, This might be a little different than usual but my question is:- Does anyone on here have a 2002 748R? I need some up close pictures of the seat unit, number boards and the graphite painted flashes on either side and around the tail light. I know this isn't your usual question but need some clear pictures to take to my painters. Cheers Lee
I have some new original yellow tails here I can picture for you. The ones pictured are 998r from memory with the exposed carbon.
Hi Paul, My email is [email protected] I have a 748R 2001 seat unit in yellow but this is different to the 2002 model. I also have a 998R carbon seat unit but this has been painted in a bright yellow and part of the exposed carbon has been painted over so I cant get the correct shape of the flashes at the front of the seat unit and the area around the tail light. Cheers Lee
No your right no carbon rear, mine are earlier ones. Oh well if you need any other areas pictured happy to help.
I had one on my 998...see pics Mine was yellow originally but had it painted red in the end. Note the graphite back and sides are hard to match and have a graphite colour pin stripe sticker round the edge! Tom
Thanks Tom, Shame you dont have your seat unit and top fairing left for sale.. Id of wanted them Who painted it for you? Cheers Lee
They were painted by 3 different people in the end!..no one could get the yellow the right shade so ended up with the lot in red. I have a guy who does a lot of paint work for me in derby called (paint by Dave) just a small shop..him and his son. Very reasonably priced and spot on. Paints hot rods and yank specials. I have a nose cone in with him currently, to be finished exactly the same as the red one. Will be for sale when finished Note the 748 seat unit should have a graphite pin round the number board not gold. I have a contact up Wigan way that has had the pin strips made for his 748r seat unit after it was damaged. I also have a superb contact for decals. If you were interested in the nose I could have it finished with silver or black Ducati and gold or graphite pin.
The seat unit was eventually finished by Motorbike Resprays | Motorcycle Accident Repairs | Custom Motorbike Paintwork however I wouldn't recommend him as still wasn't up to spec. You will struggle to find any wine to do the work correctly without spending a fortune, it would be much easier to sell the unit you have and look out for a proper red one. Can't see how anyone would do that type of paint for less than £150 then you have £40/50 for the decals.
Hi mate, I have a nose cone myself that needs painting along with a Lh lower and a seat unit to be painted red then the number boards painting white. I have the original grey pin strip from Ducati and Ducati Superbike in grey for the seat unit along with a gel corse decal. I need the 1mm graphite grey pin strip now and someone who can paint as good as it came from the factory. It's been a long and expensive project but soon as my parts arrive in next couple of weeks, I'll be able to test ride her
