Blueprinting an engine?

  1. I've heard this mentioned a few times in magazines etc, but I have no idea what that actually means. Anybody have any ideas?

  2. Its putting an engine together properly, measuring all clearances to the minutest degree to make sure the engine is as close to perfect assembly as can be and therefore as close to maximum theoretical power as is possible.....with all components chosen by weight to ensure closest possible match and balance......

  3. As above, there is a big differance between an spot on engine and a friday afternoon engine. Blue Printing is making a perfect standard engine.

  4. its more effective on older engines, the new breed of engines are machined with such tight tolerances (hence those lovely long service intervals compared to an 888 say,) that the cost of blueprinting an engine vs what you will gain will be minuscule at best. Theres still a place for it especially if you live your life on the raggedy edge, but the layman won't get the full benefit for the amount you'll end up shelling out.
