Im upgrading my front brake set up to some new more blingy gear. Question is my current brake lines are one line to a T piece then over the mudguard to each caliper. What advantage if any is there to be had by running two separate lines one to each caliper. Or shall I just stick to my original set up. Should say this is just a track bike and not a road bike. Mark.
I find that there is more "feel" to the brakes so it is very subjective. There is also a reduction of the risk of damaging the brake lines if you catch something between the wheel and the mudguard which causes the mudguard to break up. IMO it is a worthwhile upgrade. Andy
I doubt you'd feel any difference. The T piece route is fine. The only set-up not seen as acceptable is the single line to one caliper then looping over the mud guard to the other caliper. And that's only in full race bikes as if the front guard gets damaged and ripped off it can take the line with it. Not something myself. or most manufacturers worry about though.
Worth doing if you are changing calipers etc but you might find that you would need to change lines anyway. I went to a two line setup after changing calipers as it was better and cheaper than buying a new single line than splits from Ducati.
