I'm getting this pop up appearing on every page, I do run adblock, and have no intention of disabling it, I haven't blocked any ads on this site as far as I know so whats with the banner overkill? Or do we not want any site visitor to even have the ability to block out unwanted, irrelevant and intrusive advertising? ....or do I need to activate a pop up blocker to disable it?
Could you perhaps pause Ad Block on this site? Ads may be intrusive to you, but, they make this site possible.
^ I have to agree Dave - I'm sorry if this is making waves back Rob, but I won't be dropping my Adblock either - am happy to subscribe £5 a year but not £15 and I reckon you will find this last view is one shared by many non-subscribers on here. This thread has the potential to turn into an argument right now..
Why should I disable it?, ....oh yeah! because you'll make the site irritating to use if I dont seems to be the answer. I'm not a big user of this site, keeping mostly to the SC section, I'm not sure your approach is making it any more attractive.
I run Ad-Blocker and won't be disabling it either. What I don't understand is that Ad-Blocker doesn't block the embedded ads so what's the problem?
The pop up is very irritating, however it's not as irritating as being bombarded by shit Ad's for shit things that I don't won't or need ad-blocker is staying
When I discovered Adblock it was a result for me as I have a dinosaur for a computer and so extended processing time meant waiting before I could enjoy the full details of the Asian Babes adverts - not invoked by previous web-surfing btw. This meant that replies and general navigating of the site were impeded. Happy to give the adverts a go again but it's probably going to be on a par with deleting your 'Adblock detected' banners every time. Stating the obvious here Rob but it's your site and you are entitled to do whatever you want it just means I will probably visit less - overall this is probably a win - win result.
I've disabled Ad-Blocker.......... But have enabled Firefox AdKiller.........It leaves Ducati type Ads, but none of the other shite.
How about running a poll to see how many (additional) members would pay £5 a year Rob? If it turns out to be a goer lucratively-speaking you could commence when subs are due so everyone pays the same.
I don't have add blocker and until this thread i have hardly noticed the adds, if that's what it needs to finance the site then i have no problems at all. Steve
Its not the intention to make it irritating. I will change the settings so it's not displaying on every page click.
The annoyance of Ad's are secondary to my irritation at being forced to do something I don't won't, it appears what you are saying Rob is view the Ad's or I'll be very aggravating with this pop up. This site only enjoys its level of popularity because Ducatisti ceased to exist, I would suggest this forum could be heading that way if it persists with the current stance, as Chris quite rightly points out it's your site and you are entitled to do whatever you want, I think its going to get pretty quiet around here.
I know it's hypothetical but out of interest, if you don't mind me asking - what would say an hour per day generate in revenue Rob? I guess this could vary during 24 hours.
