Spanish Pyrenees

  1. Right, finally got booked up with 3 mates for September this year. Got 6 nights in Campo in a nice hotel at a cracking £230 each...all double room per person so no snoring and farting to deal with! Sooo, just wondering if there are any must do roads to the West or South, sort of out of the mountains so to speak? Just in case we get a rainy day or two and want to drop down out of the bad weather.Maybe up to 120ish miles away to allow for return journey to Campo. We normally do 200-300 mile days with multiple passes.

  2. I'd have a look at the RIDE magazine website, Routes section. They've got recommendations for all over Spain including a circular of the Pyrenees

  3. Hi, what bikes are you on?
I live in barcelona and have been up to the pyrenees on my multi a few times, basically they're all fantastic roads, excellent scenery , try the BV roads, they look single track roads but I found the roads to be in excellent condition with hardly any traffic on them, and wide enough for two lanes(not all)
BV4031 up over the mountain pass where the C-16 tunnel has been dug to avoid, excellent road,
N152 Ripol to Puigcerda Quite technical, lots of bends check it out, quite tiring
A-138 which is right beside Campo
    N-20 out of Andorra
I could go on but basically i didn't find a bad road, just go out, ride, get lost and find your way home thats what I do, once ended up 5 hours away from home! shoulda stayed the night but.....
Weather? should be great in September, gimme a shout I might take a run up

  4. niner, we will be on multistrada 1200s (S, Pikes Peak, and standard 13 model) , plus a guy on zzr1400 (he can ride, so no worries about the type of road).
So any kind of road from surfaced single track to 120mph sweepers ;)

  5. You'll love it then and hardly any coppers, I got stopped once, they just asked what I was doing, touring I said, they looked in my top box, checked the passport and I was on my way. Honestly I really don't think the coppers are interested over here, I been all over doing silly speeds, my satnav tells me any cameras, or watch the other traffic when they suddenly slow down....having said that, I'm watchful of my speed thru villages n towns.. Bit o respect!

  6. Cant wait, be a change to the Alps. Did have a little sneak preview in a hire car last year. Looks great (apart from Andorra, got excited about cracking road in and wished I was on the bike, then couldn't wait to get back out...not my kind of place.)

  7. Yeah Andorra, I rode in the south road had a cuppa and drove out the North and into France, good road,
Also don't know if you know but thanks to general Franco, week days, between 2 and 4 pm,you can get a three course meal, small portions so yr not stuffed for between 8 and 15 euros even in top class restaurants, this is called menu del dia and its worth checking out.

  8. Cool. Might make it worth a look in the cheap MC shops and fill up with cheap petrol etc. Really didn't care for the place, but bargains.....lol

  9. Hi just to clarify the cheap meals are all over spain, probly not in Andorra, wasn't impressed with it

  10. Ahhhh..ok.

  11. I believe it was in Andorra that I visited the finest McDonalds I have ever been in.

It was so nice in there that I had to remind myself what kind of restaurant I was in.

  12. Can't be agreeing with this as I have only ever had one McDonald's ever, took one bite spit it out and walked out, never been back, rather go to the greasy spoon and give Tommy and Doris my money

  13. The N260 is an awesome road, you won't want to stop.

  14. N260 is my 1st choice road. Looks epic.

  15. Yep N 260 is the classic that everyone does, I was trying for more " off piste"

  16. Done loads of top rated roads such as N85, but often found the classic ones were lesser known variety;
    Col de la Madeleine-hairpin central
    D955 Lac de Castillon-race track
    Flüelapass-epic

So keep the off piste ideas coming:upyeah:
