1200 I Love My Multi!!!

  1. Ok, there is always whinging about problems with bikes on forums, but rarely praise......so I think we should start praising our beautiful machines! I love my Multi because........

    • its the most comfortable bike I've ever owned;
    • it handles very very well and I can kick sport bike ar$e;
    • it has plenty of power and torque;
    • it is versatile and is just as capable commuting as it is high speed touring (well moderate speed in Australia of course);
    • it does every thing I want and more;
    • its the first bike I've owned that I don't feel the need to "modify";
    • it puts a smile on my face every time I ride it (or even think about riding it!!);
    • and its red!!!!

  2. More of PK1 type stuff please!

    I am thinking of buying an earlier low mileage Mutter (2010/11) and that would be my preference, however, some of the 'mares that owners report here - accepting that they are the exception rather than the rule - is turning me towards the idea of a PCP deal in order to gain warranty protection.

    Nice to have the newest model of course and peace of mind, but then there is depreciation, interest cost, the balloon and the decision whether to trade or buy at the end of the deal. Cash purchase and outright ownership is attractive but then I would kick myself if I got wacked with expensive repair costs running a used bike.

    Decisions decisions!

  3. PCP deserves a thread in it's own right.

  4. I think there is already a thread on here somewhere so I better look it up. Likely to be a longish read I should think.

  5. Likewise I really love mine, it does everything I need (and more). The EMM trip to the Dolomites was one of the most things I've done on a bike and the Multistrada was the perfect bike for it.

  6. I've had my 2010 since new, and although I do pamper and look after it a bit, I also ride it hard n fast, and its been faultless apart from an ABS software recall update not long after delivery. Nothing wrong with that in my book! At least the manufacture and dealers were quick to respond to a known issue

  7. The multi is F'in A. I have had issues but I think that might have been down to dealer. But it is the best bike to mile munch yet will keep up with any sport bike on a Sunday blast. Awesome.

  9. +1 - MTS1200ABS 2010 from new and a few warranty items that were all dealt with very well by Ducati. Only 20K miles as used as a nice day ride and most miles on Europe trips. Never failed or let me down and I still love riding it. Even after spending 2,000 miles on a Skyhook GT, I felt great jumping back on mine.

    I will now keep until 2016 when I plan to get another new one. Depreciation over that period will be very reasonable :)

  10. I have a 2012S with 4 k miles on her. Purchased about 3 months ago with only 1k miles on her. Best bike I have ever owned and I've had a few. I like it that much that I even like it's faults. I love the fact that because it's a big V twin u hit the starter and people think the battery is flat but then it just winds itself up and starts. The fact that it shudders if I am in slightly the wrong gear low down and the clutch needs riding at low speed just reminds me what I am riding.

    I love the way It wheelies
    Love how comfortable it is
    Love the rider modes, "4 bikes in one?" No! but it's still bloody good.
    I love the fact that after some hard riding all that torque makes it look like you have done a track day on the back tyre
    I love the fact that I got a red one (lights the touch paper and waits for the "white ones are faster crew to join in.)
    Headlights are brilliant
    Even with the standard exhaust I think it sounds ace

    I quite like it really

  11. Weather weather was good today so stuck the panniers on and my 10yr old lad jumped on the back and we went into town to get a couple of things..... Bike drew attention went parked up and had a good chat with a few who were commenting how good it looked.....dropped my lad back home and the misses asked if I could pop to Tesco to get a few things, thought seeing I had the panniers on ill use the multi (plus it's an excuse for another ride on my own!)...... Crammed 3 bags of shopping in the panniers then went 15 miles out of my way on the way back on some good scratching roads & had a hoot.....was chuckling to myself that there's not many bikes I would've done this on!!.......love it!!

  12. Hey, its great to see some positive replies for the Multi. They truly are great bikes!

  13. If you look at my early posts I normally start the post with this threads heading!

    I love the super soft feel of the rear brake.
    Not like my 998S, just think about looking at that pedal cause the back end to lock up.
    On my Mutley no matter how hard I push I know that that wheel cannot lock ....or even slow me down.
    Sometimes I use it on hill starts, but only if I feel like a good technical challenge.

  14. Good news though aircon, you can officially list your rear pads and discs on ebay as 'new without tags' as they won't have a mark on them :)

  15. Got to admit to having itchy feet for a change from the Multi...maybe an s1000r or a 1290 Superduke (both with some sort of screen added) BUT...just managed a sneaky hour out up to Hartside café and back this afternoon.

    I had forgotten just how bloody good this bike is.

    Hands off my Multi...Im keeping it! :) :)

  16. Same here with itchy feet. Looking to change to a M1200s but Multi is so bloody good!!

  17. Another ride out today with 1000cc sportsbikes, a Multi and a Superduke. Never wished I was riding anything else. All good :)

  18. I took a 1299 Panigale for a test ride yesterday and when one of the guys came past me on the multi I though " I wish I was back on mine !!" Nuff said

  19. Funny you say that,since getting my 899 last year the multi has been demoted to two up duties only,rode both bikes back to back today and i forgot how good the multi is solo , only realised today that the superquadro unit on the 899 is no where near as good as the old testi engine,i think i want a 1098.

  20. Well, unfortunately I didn't get out for a ride this weekend so I had to satisfy myself by having a beer and some quite time with the Multi....they are great even when they're sitting still in the garage!
