14 tooth front sprocket?

  1. Yea 1st 2nd and 3rd, I want to use 2nd 3rd and 4th instead :)

  2. Had the 14T mod done to my 848 two weeks ago. I've had the bike two years and had been thinking about doing it almost from day one;- no idea why I didn't as the mod is well worth it. Much less "chugging" on slow roundabouts and clutch slipping in town. Bike just feels "crisper". I would definitely recommend it.

  3. +1 on the 14t front... changed mine a few weeks back & one of the best mods on the bike... Did it myself didnt I @bootsam ? haha... Who needs a C-spanner when a screwdriver & hammer does the job??

  4. I've put a 14t front on every Ducati I've owned.

Pretty sure I read that the standard gearing is there because of noise regs rather than any other reason, less engine revs at a particular test speed means less noise.
Dont know if anyone can actually confirm that but it would explain the odd gearing Ducati have stuck with for many years.

  5. here goes................what is the standard front ?

  6. Glad to see it fitted ok. I went up 4 on the back of mine and an extra 2 links in the chain and it was perfect. i was finding where i ride or at least practice my riding technique 1st gear was to high and 2nd was to low and chugging but now its perfect and the pull in the lower gears is omazing

  7. Is there a reason you didn't go one off the front and one on the bike and keep the same length chain?

  8. Well the bike needed a new chain and sprockets anyway, and i got a set of new super sprox sprockets for £16 the set was -1 +4. But it worked out cheaper to get a new chain and std size sprocket front then a new std rear and chain. if that makes sense

  9. Really wished i'd fitted one prior to my alpine adventure. Would make the slow hairpins easier to navigate. Had to take them faster than I would have liked. Ahem...

  10. am i right in saying that the guy from heal tec tried to rip me off by telling me i needed to fit a speedo healer to correct the speed after fitting different sprockets?

  11. Ive got some magic beans Slof. They can make you invisible. Want to buy some? I have 57 varieties.

  12. nah hands over the eyes works better. If I cant see you, you cant see me got the added bonus of not seeing all your ugly mugs!

  13. All the more beans for me then. Parp.:Mooning:

  14. Our speed sensor is on the back wheel so he was trying to rob you. I'm going for chain and sprockets when funds permit it. How many extra horsepower does a gold chain add? :)

  15. i thought so i remember i needed one for my k4 gixer and asked him at the bike show if the 1098 would need one and he said it did to the tune of £80.00. I've read some pretty damming reports that the gold chains give you 5 or so but if you can get your hands on a super rare red dp one you'll be looking at a gain of 15 if not more

  16. and waht makes it even better is they are a different pitch to the std one

  17. I have to admit I don't really understand pitch and chain sizes etc. anyone care to enlighten me ?

  18. my understanding is that chain pitch it the gap between links and don't hold me to this but a smaller pitch is meant to be better. Chain size just depends how many links you need and i got lucky when i ordered mine as they only had a 102 chain i think 1098s and the like run 98 but because i went up 4 teeth on the back i dropped 1 link and it was perfect length. with sprockets

+ teeth on the back = better acceleration and lower top speed then the exact opposite on the front

  19. While at the dealers today buying the filters and stuff for an oil change, decided to order a DP 14 T front sprocket. Not bad for £18. I was just wondering if it's ok to use the existing locking tab or whether it's best to buy a new one? I think I read somewhere, maybe on here, that the std ones are a bit flimsy so people changed them...

  20. This might be a daft question - what manufacturer of sprocket do I buy to fit the standard chain and rear? As in with a Renthal fit?
