I have some Showa 916 forks that I want to use in a project which will have spoked wheels. With the hub I had in mind to use it looks like there will be insufficient clearance between the callipers for the spokes. My questions: Has anyone done this if so what hub and callipers were used? Are there thinner callipers that would clear the spokes? If it is a no-no what other forks are able to accept spoked wheels? I've seen a picture of a 999 using a GT1000 hub and know Alpina and Keneo produce aftermarket for various models but I'd prefer not to have to sell a body part so I could afford them.....! There also Talon Eng. as well. Any help or nudes in the right direction would be appreciated.
you need to look under the sport classics as this is a prob with these bikes....check out the forum "DUCATI MS " as it has most info. im running kineo wheels and they are unbelievable if your into wire wheels. edit to add im running a sc1000s
I think Ducati made some wide track yokes for racing with. Might give you the extra width between the forks you need. But will doubtless cause a whole bunch of other problems. Like new wheel spindle, spacers, mudguard etc.
Thanks for the feedback all. Whilst it may be possible with a Sports Classic hub I doubt that any sellers would accept Hens Teeth as payment... Back to the drawing board then for an alternative set of forks. 916 fork + top and bottom yokes for sale!
